1. لَو كانَ يَمنَعُ حُسنُ الوَجهِ صاحِبَهُ

    مِن أَن يَكونَ لَهُ ذَنبٌ إِلى أَحَدِ

    If a fair face could prevent its owner

    From wronging others or being unjust,

  2. كانَت عُلَيَّةُ أَبدى الناسِ كُلِّهِم

    مِن أَن تُكافَأَ بِسوءٍ آخِرَ الأَبَدِ

    Then Ulaiyah would be for all eternity

    Spared from being requited with evil unsurpassed.
