Stop, O Saad, let us descend here
The trysting place of the meadow is our rendezvous
Seek for me a reason to weep
For my tears are spent bending
This is the Kheif and that is Mina
So go gently, O guide, with us
And spare the censure from us awhile
We mourn the absent one and weep for the homeland
O people of Mecca, thus has Mecca treated you
It has tempted all who made pilgrimage to it
Your arrows have killed our chieftains
I do not mean by that your arrows of reed-grass
All who hoped for something attained it
On the feast day at Mina, except me
I said: “O hunter of my heart, release it
For the sanctuary at Mina forbids hunting
He said: “Whom do you mean?” And he revealed to me
From behind his face-veil a beautiful face
I said: “Beware, do not be shy”
He said: “And who did you say the hunter was?”
