أَنا إِن طال ليلي وَاسمر النجم بِالسَما
لا بُد عَيني ما تَغيب نُجومَها
If my night is prolonged and the stars darken in the sky
My eyes will surely not disappear, their stars will not set
لا بُعد عَيني تَسهر اللَيل دايما
لَو طال ما يقضب وسنها جُفونها
My eyes stay up all night, never sleeping
Even if their lids itch, they won’t blink
طَرفي أَبى عَن لَذة النَوم حرما
يا لا يمين العَين بِاللَه اعذرونها
My eyelids have refused the pleasure of sleep
Oh, my right eye, I swear by God, excuse it
بِاللَه اعذروا دَمعي مِن العَين لاهمي
عَلى لحية وَضح مِن الضَيم لَونَها
I swear by God, excuse my tears flowing down my cheeks
My beard has turned yellow from sadness and grief
جسمي عَلى كثر البَلاوي تهشما
وَعزي لِعَين دَمعها غرقونها
My body is shattered from all the afflictions
My honor belongs to the eyes that drowned it in tears
مالوم طَرف العين لَو يذرف الدَما
مِن جُور أَيام سقتنا غبونها
Do not blame my eyelids if they shed blood
From the injustice of days that made us drink humiliation
مِن جُور أَيام بِها الظُلم خَيما
عَلَينا وَغَيم الهَم حالك ركونها
From the injustice of days when oppression reigned
Upon us, and the cloud of worries enveloped its pillars
وَعز الصَديق اللي رجونها عِندما
رَمَتنا لَيالي الفشر بِأَكبر شيونها
And rare is the true friend at times of adversity
When the nights of betrayal attacked us with their evils
وَغلظ البَلاء عَلى المهاجر عَتما
وَلا مِن فَرج أَهل البَلا يَرتجونها
And afflictions weighed heavily on the immigrants
With no relief for the people of trial, they hope for none
وَلا مِن فَرج يرجا سِوى اللَه يَرحما
وَاقفوا بِنا وَعيالنا صيحونها
No relief is hoped for except from Allah’s mercy
They stood against us and our families, screaming
وَاقفوا بِنا بِالخُون عامورد الظَما
عَلى غَير جادي طفالنا شتتونها
Standing against us fully armed and equipped
Scattering our children in the wilderness with no guardian
وَاسوا بنا ندعات من غَير مرحما
وَصرنا أَدب حوران لَما ولونها
Wishing evil upon us without any mercy
We became a lesson for the fair maidens when they turned against us
صُرنا أَدب وَاحنا مثل ماء زمزما
خانوا بِنا بِالبُوق ما شيء دُونَها
We became a lesson while we are like the water of Zamzam
They betrayed us openly, nothing was hidden
يا للعجب كَيف المؤامن تَيغما
وَلا ذَنب سالف قبل ما يفهمونها
How strange is the plight of the believer when he is oppressed
Without any past sin before it can be understood
وَأَهل القَبايح وَالرذالة لربما
عفيوا لِأَن النَفس تَألف زبونها
While the people of evil and vileness are often
Forgiven, because the soul is used to their followers
خانوا أَمان اللَه بَعد أَن تختما
وَرَأي النَبي المُصطَفى ضيعونها
They violated the covenant of Allah after agreeing to it
And ignored the view of the Chosen Prophet
مَن آمن الغدار لا شَك يَندما
يَخسر وَتهمي مِن عيونو مزونها
Whoever trusts the treacherous will surely regret
And lose his sight from crying over their betrayal
وَمآمن عهود الربع عجلا تندما
يَأكل كفوفه عِندما يَخلفونها
And whoever believes the promises of betrayers quickly regrets
When he bites his palms from their violation
لَو يَقسموا بِاللَه دينا معظما
يَهبوا مَواثيق الربع يَنكثونها
Even if they swore to God, the All-Powerful
They easily break their alliances and pacts
ما غَير وَرع هيه وَاحذر مِن العَما
وَاسمع كَلاما الخَلق جربونها
Nothing has changed, so beware of the blind
And listen to the words of people who have experienced them
من مارس الأَيام أَضحى معلماً
وَمَن جَرب الأَشيا تَعلم فنونها
Whoever deals with time becomes knowledgeable
And whoever experiences things learns their qualities
خُذها نَصيحة ما بِها غُش درهما
مِن اللي جَميع أُمورهم يَبخنونها
Take this sincere advice without any deceit
From those whose affairs have been tested through trials
لاجوا سَوالفهم بفعلا تقدما
وَلذعاتهم مثل الذَهب نقدونها
Their conversations are filled with great wisdom
And their biting words are like refined gold
إِن كُنت رَجل أَوصيك فَاعقل وَافهما
احذر مِن اللي كُل ديرة يَجونها
If you are a man, I advise you to be reasonable and understanding
Beware of those who roam from town to town
إِن نَزَلوا أَرضاً بِها الجُور خَيما
كُل الرَعايا مِن الظُلم نُورونها
If they come to a land where injustice has spread
All the subjects suffer from its oppression
مثل جَرب كانون للجسم يحطما
انشد رَعايا ديرة يَحكمونها
Like how fire burns the body and destroys it
Ask the subjects of the town they rule
بَنيت مَجالسهم عَلى حُكم ظالما
بِلا الأَصفر الرَنان لا تدخلونها
They have built their councils on unjust rule
Without bribery, you won’t be allowed entry
لَو كُنت من ذرية الست فاطما
دَعوة بِلا بَرطيل ما يمسكونها
If you were from the family of Fatima
Your petition will not be accepted without payment
وَلا يرحموا المسكين لَو كانَ مسلما
إِلا بِرَشوة مسوكرة يَبلعونها
They will not have mercy on a poor Muslim
Unless he pays a juicy bribe that they swallow
لَو قُلت أَنا عيسى الشهيد ابن مريما
حُط المَصاري الهية يوزعونها
If I said I am Jesus, the martyred son of Mary
They would take the divine funds and distribute them
وَلا يَستَحوا مِن لَهجة الذم إِنَّما
ما يَعرفوا غَير الخمر يَشربونها
They are not ashamed of insulting speech
They only know wine that they keep drinking
أَو جاق ظُلم الرَب مِن فَوق يقصما
أَما الأَماني وَالمروة عزونها
Until the justice of the Lord strikes them from above and destroys them
As for integrity and manliness, they have abandoned it
وَمِن يَدخلو لا شَك ظالم مثلما
جدوع نَبق وَغرستو يَلعنونها
Those who join them are surely unjust as well
Like a stubborn mule bred and raised to curse it
عملوا الوَظايف للرذالات سلما
وَمِن كُل ملة ناس هُم قضد رقونها
They have made the jobs available only to the immoral
And have made people of all faiths their servants
يَأتي أَحدهم للمخاليق يَظلما
ضَمان كرم وَمدتو تعرفونها
If one of them comes to people, he unjustly oppresses them
While claiming to be generous and hospitable
حُوت البَحر وَمَن يُدانيه يلقما
يا وَيل مَن لَو دَعوة يقرضونها
The whale of the sea and whoever competes with it feeds
Woe to those whose petition they tear up
بوطه مثل وَدنا بها اللَه اعلما
فَكأن رَعيان الحوش جمعونها
They collect it like meat collected for cooking pots
May Allah isolate them and punish them after showing clemency
وَشلي بِهم اللَه يُشفق وبحلما
عَلَينا وَيلطف بِهِ ما شيء دونَها
And have mercy on us without anything less than that
Revealing our happiness after it disappeared and became gloomy
يَظهر سَعدنا بَعد ما غاب وَاِنطَما
بِبلادهم مَولاي يَهدم رُكونها
By demolishing their strongholds in their own lands, my Master
And safely rescuing everyone, my Lord, and honoring us
وَيحسن خلاص الكُل رَبي وَيكرما
وَيَرحم ضعاف علمها في حدونها
And having mercy on the weak among them, as many as are confined
Afterwards, my longing soul consulted
مِن بَعد ذا راودت نَفسي المُتَيما
وَشاورت نَفسي وَاللَيالي عمونها
And deliberated with the nights that blinded them
The days have betrayed us, shocking and unjust
خانَت بِنا الأَيام تدهش وَتشلما
وَخانوا اللَيالي وَخان من يَأمنونها
As did the nights, and those we trusted in them
The days are fickle, doing justice at times and injustice at others
الأَيام قَلابات تعدل وَتظلما
وَغش اللَيالي الشر غاشي رُكونها
While the evils of the nights overwhelmed their pillars
O believer, do not think days will be safe
الأَيا لا مالوا دَعوا الفَرز أَبكما
وَدُنياك لازم يَوم تخلف ظنونها
The days, those who betrayed them have blamed them
Look at the present world, if you have any understanding
أَهل المثل قالوا كَلاماً مقدما
الأَيام لا عضت تمكن سنونها
And see the current nights and those that passed
Some things require you to be in control
وَدَهر الفَتى دُولاب بِالريح يبرما
وَالأَيام لا مالوا الصَفا يَسحنونها
While others are marked on their faces
Sometimes, life makes you drink bitterness and aloe
يَدعو العَوالي بِالهضابات نايما
مِن عُقب ماروس العُلا يسكنونها
And other times, it offers you sweet springs
If you are arrogant, listen and learn
مِن بَعد ما كُنا سَلاطين بِالحَما
في ديرة كُل الخَلق يَبخنونها
From the fate of past kings and their subjects
And the Messengers of God spread across the land and sky
جتنا لَيالي غتر شنعات مظلما
سقتنا مِن الصَبر قداح نقعونها
Who saw things not as they appeared
Adam was tempted by Iblis at a time of blindness
سَقَتنا قداح الصَبر مَمزوج بِالدما
وَقَلبي عَلى جَمر الغَضا نجضونها
And disobeyed God's command after eras
Noah proved strong with the scriptures and wisdom
يا مؤامن الأَيام ما ظَن تسلما
الأَيام ذموها الَّذي بخنونها
As kinds of animals boarded his ship two by two
Abraham survived the fire that raged
انظر إِلى الدُنيا إِذا كُنت تفهما
وَشُوف الليالي الحاضرة وَالمضونها
And destroyed all the idols that existed
How strange that people still reject
بَعض الأُمور تُريد فيها التحكما
وَبَعض الأُمور وَسومها عَلى خشومها
The God who filled the earth and heavens
After him, Jesus the son of Mary was protected
أَوقات تَسقي المَرء حَنظل وَعَلقما
وَبَعض الأَوقات توردو مِن عُيونها
During his time, goodness spread everywhere
And he built God's land with justice, just as
إشن كُنت يا مَغرور تَعقل وَتعلما
راعي المُلوك السالفة دشرونها
Miracles happened every hour that people saw
When the Messiah was born, people found comfort
وَغرت برسل اللي دَحا الأَرض وَالسَما
وَشافوا بَعض أَشيا عَلى غَير لونها
As the wolf and lambs grazed together
And Muhammad, the Chosen One, with knowledge all around
آدم رَماه إِبليس في مورد العَمى
وَخالف وَصايا اللَه بَعدان قرونها
Spread his religion by the sword firmly
The masses of prophets that cannot be counted
وَثبت لبونا نُوح بِالصُحف وَالهَما
مِن كُل جنس سفينتو جوجونها
As long as creation is ruled without God
All creations hope for His mercy
وَعاد اتلاه اللي له النار تضرما
كُل الصَنام بمدتو كسرونها
O God, for the sake of the Chosen Prophet
The intercessor, relieve the remaining oppression
وَبَعدين ابن داود بِالحُكم تَمما
الجن وَطُيور السَما يَتبعونها
O Maker of the seven solid heavens
With pillars from no visible support below them
لبس عباته لِلعَصا تايوهما
وَترك عمار القُدس ما تممونها
O Spreader of the earth upon the water when
The creations and angels submitted
وَموسى عَلى فرعون بِالفعل لزما
وَكُل العَجايب في عَصاه يَرونها
And made it steady with lofty mountains
Above the ground, a thousand heights below
وَهامان لهرون كلم وَترجما
فَرعون رَب القبط ما تعبدونها
With its trees and palms submissive and smiling
Green with vegetation on all sides
نكروا آلها ماليء الأَرض وَالسَما
يا للعجب كَيفَ الخَلق يَنكرونها
Bearing sweet and delicious fruits
With flavors of fruits everywhere
وَمِن بَعدها عيسى اِبن مَريم تَعصما
في مدتو كُل النَواحي بنونها
And interspersed lights, condensed
In shapes beyond description and counting
وَعمر بِلاد اللَه بِالعَدل مِثلَما
أَمر المَعاجز كُل ساعه يَرونها
Rain covers it every year without fail
Greening the widespread branches above
الناس بِالمَهد اِستَراحَت عِندَما
الذئب مَع سرب الغَنَم سرحونها
Relieve us, O Creator of all, inspire us
And return those who lost hope in hardships
وَمحمد المُختار للعلم عَمما
دينو بِحَد السَيف شيد رُكونها
And improve the condition of the sick and frail
And have mercy on the weak and exiled
ذولي بدين اللَه الناس كُلَّما
وَالأَنبياء الطغمات ما ينحصونها
You are Able, and we have no shelter
Except Your mercy that the people of trial hope for
يا ما طَوَت دُنياك مِن كُل مغرما
وَمِن كُل سُلطان الخَلق يَتبعونها
I conclude my words with the Glorious Prophet
Woe to the people who opposed his way
ما دام غَير اللَه عالخلق يحكما
كُل الخَلايق رحمتو يَرتجونها
May the Chosen One seal for us with goodness the Day of Regret
The best and greatest of creations
يا اللَه بِجاه النَبي الكلما
المُصطَفى تَفرج بَواقي غبونها
يا رافع السَبعة الشداد المحكما
عَلى غَير عَمَد مِن الوَطا يَدعمونها
يا باسط الخرسا عَلى الماء حينما
رَدت الخَلايق وَالمَلا يَسكنونها
وَاثبتها بطواد شمخ مسنما
عَالأَرض تَعلو أَلف قامة ودونها
وَشجرتها وَالدوح ماد وَتبسما
وَاخضر مِن كُل النَواحي ركونها
وَأَينع ثمرها المُستَطاب المطعما
وَتخالفت بِالطَعم أَثمار كونها
وَتخالف النوار فيها المختما
بِأَشكال ما يحصر تَواصيف لَونَها
في كُل عام يغشيها القطر لا همي
وَتخضر مِن فَوق البَسيطة غصونها
تفرج لَنا يا خالق الكُل تلهما
وَتَعود بِاللي في الحيل غربونها
وَتحسن خَلاص اللي نفوهم مِن الحِمى
وَتَرحم ضعافاً عَالهفا وردونها
إِنكَ قَدير وَمالنا قَط مرحما
سِوى رَحمتك أَهل البلا يَرتجونها
وَاختم كَلامي بِالنَبي المعظما
يا وَيل قَوم سنتو خالفونها
يَختم لَنا بِالخَير يَوم التندما
المُصطَفى خَير البَرايا وَعونها
