فاض الدَمع من مُقلَتي غُدران
My tears overflow from my eyelids
As the fires within me rage
فاض الدَمع مِن فُوق صَحن الخدي
حيلي انهدي وَحالتي عدماني
My tears flow down my cheeks
My state is hopeless, I'm powerless
عدمان حيلى يا رفاقه شيلي
سَهران ليلي ارقب الميزان
Powerless am I, oh friends, take me
I stay up all night checking the scales
سَهران طُول الليل زادي عايف
وَالقَلب من جور اللَيل خايف
Awake all night, sick with worry
My heart afraid of the cruelty of the night
لا شَك إِني عَلى فراقك تالف
ودي أودعكم بِلَفظ لِساني
No doubt I'm destroyed by your separation
I wanted to bid you farewell with my words
وَدعك وَالفظ كَلام فراقي
وَالدَمع جَرح وَجنَتي وَمواقي
Leave it and my words of farewell
And tears are wounds, and my cheeks, my shelters
يا حلو تَراني عاعهدك باقي
من هُون تيذوب الحَصا الصماني
Oh sweet one, know I'll keep my promise to you
From here, the stone melts, even the resistant one
من هون تيشيب الغراب الأَسود
مِن بَعدكم لا لبس أَنا مسح أَسود
From here, the black raven grows white hair
Without you, I only wear black
خيوب عا يوم الفراق الأَسود
تاري الدَهر غَدار بالإِنساني
The day of black separation
Time is a traitor to mankind
تاري الدَهر غدار ما هو باجي
وَشاهد الخلان بِالأَوطان
Time is a traitor, it won't last
Witness the ruins in homelands
يا هل تَرى من عقب هذا باجي
وَشاهد الخلان بالأَوطان
Do you think after this, anyone remains

اشاهدو وقبلو في عينو
عَلى الفراق الولف اللّه يعينو
See and accept what I see
May God make the separation easy
شبهته ريم العلا بعينوذ
ومنين للريم الحلق وَالماني
I compared her to a gazelle before my eyes
Where is the gazelle's necklace and collar?
وَمنين المريم الحلق وَالعقدي
وَمنين الو طول الغضي الوندي
Where is the smooth neck and braids?
Where are the long black tresses?
وَمنين إلو ورد احمرار الخدي
بس ان شبهت العيون قراني
Where are the rose-red cheeks?
But if I compared the eyes, they are springs
بس إِن شبهت العُيون عنونو
وَخدو كَالتُفاح أَحمر لونو
With cheeks like red apples
Four arches shaded them
أَربَع غَواسق حادرة عمتونو
مثل الشَيطان مغرقة بدهان
Like a flooded river they drown in kohl
Like Satan, his crown on his head
مثل الشطان مجد له من راسو
مِن فوقهم زان الذهب لباسو
Above them, gold clothes he wears
A brow like a crescent moon in shape
وَجبين يشبه للهلال قياسو
كل من نظرها بارك الرَحماني
All who saw her, blessed the Merciful
All who saw said, "By God you are lost!"
كُل من نظرها قال هل هلالك
وَكذيلتو ريش الظَليم الحالك
With a tail like the smooth swimming fish
If she were in Al-Shafi'i or Malik's abode
لو هو بدور الشافعي وَالمالك
فات الصَلا وَالدين وَالإِيماني
The prayers, faith and religion forgotten
The prayers and obligations and Sunnah forgotten
فات الصَلا وَفروضها وَالسني
من هجركم ما يوم يبدي سني
Whoever abandoned you will never have good fortune
Oh sweet one, if only I could
يا حلو لو اتفق بس إِني
قبل السفر شاهدتكم بعياني
Before traveling, see you clearly with my eyes
Before traveling, see the soft branch
قبل السفر شاهدت غُصن الباني
اللي عيونو مكحلة وذبلاني
Whose eyes are lined with kohl and languid
His face like the full moon, shining bright
وجهو مثل بدر الدُجى لا باني
في ليلة اربعطش من نيسان
On the fourteenth night of April
On the fourteenth, the full moon rose
في ليلة اربعطش تم البدري
يابو نهود معقدة عالصدري
Oh Abu Nuhoud, braided at his chest
Like two jasmines, their dreams are wine
كيزان تين أَبيض حلمهم خمري
وَالعُنق ريم الفَلا الجفلاني
The neck like a tender sprig, swaying
The neck like a tender gazelle, tall in stature
العُنق ريمية المَها وَالقامة
من فوقها ثوباً كمل هندامه
Above it, a perfect garment in attire
Her throat glistening if her scarf slipped
يلمع نحرها لا كشفت لثامه
بس أنت سمي واذكر الرحماني
But you are named, so mention the Merciful!
Name Him and extend your hand to the houri
سمي ومد ايدك عَلى حوريه
من خاص غزلان المها منقيه
Of the special gazelles, pure
Wearing a smooth silk garment
وليا لبس ثوب الملس للغيا
يسوى ملك عبدالحميد الثاني
Worthy of Sultan Abdulhamid the Second
Oh sweet one, take my dear soul and bid farewell
يا حلو خذ روحي العزيزة ووالف
لا شك إني على فراقك تالف
No doubt I'm destroyed by your separation
I forgot to describe her hornet waist and trails
نسيت أوصف عقربه وَالسالف
ريش الربيدي اليارهجريباني
The feathers of the swimming bird I adore
Its teeth like frost, translucent
ريش الظليم اللي ربي عاكتافه
وسنونها مثل البرد وَشفافه
Red skirts like the blood of a slaughtered sheep
And lips like Solomon's ring
قيطان احمر مثل دَم رعافي
وَالفم دورة خاتم سليماني
Oh sweet one, fear God for this separation
My soul was shredded at the torment
يا حلو خاف الله على هالفرقة
روحي جزت من مهجتي عالترقة
Not even the ostrich lamented like me
Nor Jacob's sorrow for Joseph
ما ناحت الخَنسا مثالي وورقه
وَلا حزن يعقوب عالخلاني
Oh sweet one, fear God, you made my state worse
Oh sweet one, fear God, you worried me
يا حلو خاف الله ضنيتوا حالي
يا حلو خاف اللّه شغلتوا بالي
If they removed the mountain, it would collapse on me
Be gentle with me, oh caring one
همي إذا شالوا الجبل ينهالي
ارفق بحالي يا عنود العاني
Be gentle, my tears run
There is sickness in my heart
ارفق بحالي دمعتي سياحة
جوات قلبي علة قياحة
I didn't expect comfort after your abandonment
From here, they'll wrap my body in a shroud
ماظنتي من بَعد هجرك راحة
من هون تايضموا الجسد بكفاني
And I conclude my words with the chosen Prophet
Who will intercede for us from the heat and fire
واختم كلامي بالنبي المختاري
يشفع لنا من حرها وَالناري
On the day we stand before the Almighty
When all our deeds are weighed
يوم العرض على الواحد الجباري
يوماً جَميع أَعمالنا تنزاني
