1. يا راكب اللي ماضياً لَو تجاريب

    حرا مَعنى يقطَع الدو حايل

    O rider who is traveling the past as if living it

    A free meaning that cuts through the farness of the two abodes

  2. اشقح شَراري ما يَهاب المَطاليب

    عَفواً اليا مازال حر القَوايل

    My eagerness whose flames fear no demands

    Excuse me, for I am still free in my sayings

  3. إِن شم صَهب الدوح أَذرَح من الذيب

    يَجزيك عن سَرد المَهارة الأَصايل

    If you smell the aroma of the sand dunes flee from the wolves

    May what you relay of news reward you

  4. مثل الظَليم إِن خف بِالقاع بِالطيب

    يَنكح عَن اللي راكبين السَلايل

    Just as the unjust person, if he hides, is given generosity

    He is denied it if he joins the caravans openly

  5. انسف عليه اللي يربح الرواكيب

    الميركة وَالكور من شغل حايل

    Denounce the one who profits from the ships

    And the boats from the work of my hands

  6. وَخرجا عقيلي راقمينو الرَعابيب

    وَمكلفينو بالودع وَالشَلايل

    And sent forth my dear ones embarking and bidding farewell

    Charging them with parting and separation

  7. زَهب عليه الدَرب مابو مَعالايب

    الترك ما مِنهُم كَريماً يسايل

    The path left them without supplies

    The Turks have no honorable one who lends a hand

  8. يا راكبو دُونك وَخذلي مَكاتيب

    مني مَعنى لاخمات الدَبايل

    O riders, leave me be and neglect my letters

    A meaning from me no more playing with words

  9. الليث أَبو سليمان حر المَراقيب

    ريف اليَتامى بِالسنين المحايل

    The lion Abu Suleiman free of accusations

    Guardian of the orphans through dire years

  10. زبن المجنا لا بغون الطَواليب

    عده بعيطه عِند عز الدَخايل

    We dislike the complainers during times of torment

    We count him by his crying during times of agony

  11. يا زير يا مَروي حُدود المحاديب

    يا ندب يا وافي الشيم وَالخَصايل

    O frequenter and water-bearer of the valleys

    O caller who is loyal in disposition and roots

  12. يا ليث ياللي ما تداني الزواريب

    يا كاسب النوماس يوم الهَوايل

    O lion that predators do not dare to confront

    O winner of bounty on the day of terror

  13. يا شيخ بحر يا كَريم المَواجيب

    يا فَرز يا حر النَفس وَالشَمايل

    O sheikh of the sea, generous in giving

    O pure of soul and inclination

  14. هاذي سَوالف ناصبين المَلاعيب

    تقاعدوا بِهِ ناكرين الجَمايل

    These are foolish words erecting playthings

    They retired from it denying kindness

  15. خلوا شَظانا مثل غيم الشَناغيب

    وَتقاطعونا بين غجا سَفايل

    They left our protections like scattered clouds

    And cut us off between a desolate mirage

  16. ضعنا ببر الترك مثل الذَواهيب

    وَالكُل مِنا في وَطنهم ذَلايل

    They made us on Turkish land like victims

    And all of us in their homelands are disgraced

  17. عَجزت فكاري عن جَميع الدَواليب

    وَقصرت شباري عن جَميع المَسايل

    My thoughts failed regarding all schemes

    And my patience shortened regarding all questions

  18. يا شيخ ما هي بالحيل وَالأَساليب

    حنا ببر الترك خرسا هبايل

    O sheikh it is not with cunning and methods

    We in Turkish lands are deaf and confused

  19. ما رانَت وَقع وَاترك الخُوف وَالعيب

    وَعزك فراق الترك خبث العَمايل

    No might appears unless you leave fear and shame

    And your honor is in parting from the Turks' wicked deeds

  20. لعابة الضامي يواسوا مَناصيب

    وَالفَرز بالرقع عَلى الشاه صايل

    The jesters have consoled the grieved

    And the virtuous with parchment have appealed to the king

  21. راوَدَت نَفسي عاجميع التَداريب

    ما شُفت غَير الرُوس يَشفو الغَلايل

    My soul has traversed all roads

    I have seen none but the Russians healing anguish

  22. قراب المشاحي لا بغينا التَساريب

    إِن هَب ريح بيوم واحد نهايل

    The proximity of our dwellings we want no cunning

    If a wind blows for one day we become delirious

  23. من دُون باب الرُوم مالي مَهاريب

    وَمِن غير سُفن البَحر مالي زَمايل

    Beyond the gates of Rome I have no cleverness

    And without sea vessels I have no companions

  24. لَولا اليسق وَاسيت مثل التَغاريب

    شَديت للمر حال حيلا رَعايل

    If not for livelihood I would wander like nomads

    I prepared myself for the bitter with great exertion

  25. رَحَلنا عَلى شَقحا شناحا محاريب

    بِالليل نسري وَالعِدا بِالقوايل

    We traveled on the heights walking and riding

    At night we march and during the day we rest

  26. أَما مرادي يقصروه الرَواقيب

    دَرب الهَزيمة للربوع القَلايل

    As for my wants they restrict them the passageways

    The path of defeat for the sparse periods

  27. وَحنا كثار وَدق مثل الدَباديب

    وَدار المعزة دونها مية حايل

    While we are many like locusts

    And the house of glory through it lies a hundred burdens

  28. صج السَلامي يم دار المزيريب

    أَما بِلادي عويلي وَالحَلايل

    The greetings of peace to the house of the honorable ones

    As for my home - anguish and calamities upon it

  29. وَعن قَولتك دَرب الشمالي مَراهيب

    وَيروح كد النَفس من دُون طايل

    And your words - the northern path has terrors

    And my soul nearly departs without hoping

  30. وَنذوق بالمرحال حر اللَواهيب

    وَنضيع بَين مخالطين الحَمايل

    And we taste the bitterness of affliction

    And are lost between those who coddle worries

  31. أهون علي من التراك المجاديب

    تَغيب شَمسي بَين قَوماً بخايل

    More beloved to me than the Turks' presence

    My sun sets among a people that are stingy

  32. مَن لا يدارك ما تَزود من الطيب

    وَمن لا يخاسر يا ضنا الجَود عايل

    One who does not acquire goodness while available

    And one who does not lose, O blamer of generosity, is asking

  33. مَقسوم لَك من غَير كره وَمَعاتيب

    يَأتيك من غير الكُتب وَالدَلايل

    Apportioned for you without hatred or blame

    Comes to you without books or proof

  34. ياللَه يللي يقصدوك الطَواليب

    يا حي يا مَعبود كل القَبايل

    O God, O you whom complainers seek

    O living, worshipped by all tribes

  35. يا ضابط حساب الملا وَالدباديب

    يا رافع السَبعة الشداد الظَلايل

    O watcher over the accounts of property and servants

    O lifter of the seven oft-repeated verses and eternal shadows

  36. تَفكنا من بَعد هك التَغاريب

    وَتَظهر سَعدنا من طمان الخَمايل

    Release us after these sufferings

    And show our joy after the completion of worries

  37. بِالمُصطَفى المَبعوث يا عالم الغَيب

    وَالأَنبيا وَالتابعين الرَسايل

    With the Chosen One, O knower of the unseen

    And the prophets and followers carrying messages
