أَيد اللَه دَولَة أَنت فيها
يا اِبن تاج رَئيس فَنّ البَديع
Oh Allah grant victory to the state you reside in
Oh son of a crown, master of the art of rhetoric
رَفع اللَه قَدر ذا الفَنّ لما
نَسَبوه لِذا المَقام الرَفيع
Allah raised the status of this art when
They attributed it to this sublime station
يا اِمام البَديع ها أَنتَ تاج
فَوقَ هام التَجنيس وَالتَنويع
Oh imam of rhetoric here you are, a crown
Above the prose of paronomasia and variation
كانَ فَنّ البَديع قَبلك صَعبا
عَسر الاِنقياد غَير مُطيع
The art of rhetoric before you was difficult
Recalcitrant, disobedient, and unyielding
فَجَمَعت الَّذي تَفرّق وَاِستَي
قظ فَنّ البَديع بَعد الهُجوع
So you brought together what was separated and resuscitated
The art of rhetoric after its recession
زد علوّا وَرِفعَة يا اِبن تاج
بِاِمتِداح النَبِيّ طه الشَفيع
Increase ever more in ascent and rank, oh Son of Taj
By praising the Prophet Taha, the intercessor
اِن أَهل البَديع قالوا جَميعاً
أَنتَ شيخ التَأصيل وَالتَفريع
Indeed, the rhetoricians all said
You are the sheikh of originating and branching out
كم بَديعية رَأَينا وَلكِن
هذه في البَديع فَوقَ الجَميع
How much rhetorical work have we seen, but
This one surpasses all in rhetoric
هِيَ بَيت القَصيد من ذلِك
الفَن وَقطب التوشيح وَالتَوشيع
It is the first line of the poem from that
Art, and the axis of annotation and distribution
أَيُّها الطالِب البَديع اغتَنِمها
واجن مِنه أَزهار فَصلِ الرَبيع
Oh student of rhetoric, take advantage of it
And reap from it the flowers of the season of spring
هي بَحر من البَلاغَة عَذب
فَاِعتَرَف وَاِغترف بِمَرعى مريع
It is a sea of fresh eloquence
So admit and draw from an abundant pasture
يَغنم الدرّ من تبجر فيها
وَغَدا في بَديعِها ذا ولوع
He profits pearls from its essence
And spent his morning engrossed in its rhetoric
وَيُنادي من رام عَنها رُجوعا
يا أَخا الوجد لارجعت رُجوعى
And he calls out to whoever desires to return
Oh brother of fervor, if only I could return
دَع بَديع اِبن حجة وَابن هاني
وَالصَفى الحلى وَتِلكَ الجُموع
Leave the rhetoric of Ibn Hijjah, Ibn Hani
And Safi Al-Hilli and those groups
وَتَأَمّل وَاِنظُر بَديع اِبن تاج
تدرك الفَرق بَينَ باع وبوع
And contemplate and look at the rhetoric of Ibn Taj
You realize the difference between spans and fathoms
خُذ بديعية اِبن تاج وَدَع ما
قيل قَد ما من البَديع الخَليع
Take the rhetoric of Ibn Taj and leave what
Has been said, the despicable of rhetoric
وَاجلها لِلعُقول بكرا عَروسا
مِثل بَدر التَمام عِندَ الطُلوع
And present it to unspoiled minds
Like the full moon at its emergence
نعمة خصة بها اللَه فَضلا
هو مِنها في حرز حِصن مَنيع
A special blessing from Allah, a virtue
It is under his protection, an impregnable fortress
درر صاغَها بِوسع اِطلاع
وَاِنسِجام حلا وَحسن صَنيع
Gems he fashioned with the capacity of comprehension
And congruity of situations, excellent workmanship
