O heart, rejoice: the sorrows have departed.
O my heart, rejoice! The gloom has passed away
This is the shrine, and these are the lights.
This place and these lights
This is the shrine of Abu al-Lithamayn, who
This is the station of my father Al-Lathami
Illumined the ages and the cities.
Whose torches the storms and rains could not extinguish
This is the shrine of the spiritual Pole, sovereign of humankind,
This is the station of the Pole, the Sultan of mankind
Refuge of those seeking bounty, the sharp, cleaving sword.
The cave of the chosen ones, firm and piercing
This is Abu al-Farahat; this is the chosen one,
This is Abu Al-Farah, the elect
Of the lineage of him for whom stones grew soft.
From the lineage of one whose rocks could not be shaken
This is [Abu] Farajat, al-Badawi; how many
This is the relief of Al-Badawi, how many
Wishes were fulfilled through him in an instant!
Misfortunes have I overcome through his mere glance
A champion—whenever someone in distress came
A hero, when one in distress calls him
And called upon him, he returned full of gladness.
He responds, and in him there is hope
How many a captive, weighed down by his fetters,
How many prisoners burdened by their shackles
Was assailed by the unbelievers in their balefulness!
Have been surrounded by the infidels' ill omens
The earth closed in upon him, until he had
The earth was too narrow for them until they had
No escape from that grievous anguish.
No choice but to flee from that severe distress
He called to you: “O Badawi, save me, for
They called you, O Al-Badawi, save me, for
The horizons and the lands have closed in upon me.”
The horizons and lands have narrowed around me
So you rescued him and returned him to his homeland,
So you rescued them and returned them to their homes
After his home had grown far distant from him.
After the home had become so distant for them
How many a needy man came to you seeking wealth
How many distressed people came to you seeking wealth
As a generous gift, then returned free of want!
Generously, and returned cured of their poverty
And how many a peerless man, for whom the best reward was already ordained,
And how many people were blessed with good fortune
You have looked upon, lifting the veils for him!
You noticed them and lifted the veil from them
O my master, your sanctuary has a radiant light,
My master, your flesh is radiant light
And upon your shrine lie awe and dignity.
And your station commands awe and dignity
And your visitors possess beauty and majesty,
Your visitors have beauty and majesty
And theirs is glory above all humankind.
And through you they take pride over all people
Never once have I come to visit, out of love for you,
I have not come to visit you once
Without mysteries from you becoming clear to me.
Except that secrets were unveiled to me from you
And today I come to you, seeking your help for an anguish
And today I came to you hoping that you would relieve
That has grown grievous—and your hand rains down bounty.
A great affliction, as your gifts are ever-flowing
O my mainstay, my treasure, and my means of approach,
My pillar, my treasure, my means
O my master, whose forebears are righteous,
My master, whose ancestors were virtuous
O master of the spiritual Poles, O you whose forefather is
O Pole of poles, whose grandfather
Taha, the bearer of glad tidings, the Chosen, the Elect.
Was Taha the Bringer of Glad Tidings, the Chosen One
May God, Lord of the Throne, bless him as long as
May Allah, Lord of the Throne, bless him
Suns shine or moons appear,
As long as suns shine or moons appear
And his family and companions, the beacons of guidance,
And his family and Companions, the guides
As long as night falls or day follows it.
Whether night enshrouds or day breaks
