1. O son of noble forebears, never fear death.

And by your grandfather's honor, this station is not in vain.

  2. And let nothing your enemies have done alarm you.

Many a lord has been hated by his people out of envy.

  3. Do you not see that your grandfather, the Chosen One, had

among his people envious men who harmed him, and enemies?

  4. You are descended from God's Messenger's [grandson]; how could you suffer

injustice, when your Lord has granted you aid?

  5. And glory is yours, O son of the noblest; whoever

stubbornly denies your eminence—let him die of grief.

  6. Rejoice in a long life that will not be marred

by misfortune, and in a happy age free of ruin.

  7. For how much aid your glorious forebears have received—

every span has come to fall short of its reach!

  8. And how many of your benefactions have become known,

and how much glory has shone like the light of the two Farqad stars!

  9. And how much honor is yours, O sons of al-Zahra—

lofty honor, to which God has borne witness in the Qur'an!

  10. Noble virtues the Generous Lord has ordained

for you; through them you have become seas of generosity.

  11. O Ahmad of this age, be at ease in spirit, for you come from

a people who, when described, are the fortunate ones.

  12. God [honored you] long ago and purified you,

and favored you, O sons of al-Zahra, with every form of guidance.

  13. Who can vie with you in glory, or who can resemble you,

when praise of you has appeared in God's Book?

  14. God has granted you, O family of Fatimah,

a distinction in eminence that He has granted no one else.

  15. You are kings over all creation, and for you,

O family of Taha, the banner of glory has been raised.

  16. This tongue of mine falls short of praising you;

I cannot extend a hand to reach it.

  17. And how can I praise you when God praises you

with praise whose remembrance is forever [recited] throughout time?

  18. Yet all I can claim is that I am a man

who, through love of the Prophet's family, hopes for salvation tomorrow.
