1. Friend, tell me: what are these lights?

    Are those suns, or moons?

  2. Or treasures filled with pearls?

    Or symbols holding secrets within?

  3. Or the breeze of youth, wafting shortly before dawn?

    I left enchantments behind when it spread.

  4. O sons of al-Aydarus, noble is your lineage!

    How splendid you are, and splendid that lineage!

  5. You are the people: no guest is mistreated

    Within [your protection], nor is any neighbor wronged.

  6. You are the people whose forefather is the noblest of messengers,

    And after him you are [the virtuous].

  7. O sons of al-Aydarus, O family of Ta-Ha!

    There is no measure for describing your excellence.

  8. God has honored our Egypt today, from among you,

    With a nobleman whose emblem is perfection.

  9. He is Abd al-Rahman, the spiritual pole of those possessing gnosis,

    The one through whom the cities shone.

  10. I once told those praising him: Come to your senses!

    Poetry cannot encompass his excellence.
