1. O my lord, this day is a blessed day,

And a happy feast, beaming with joy.

  2. O my lord, may God grant you life to see its like,

With your honor undiminished and good fortune coming your way.

  3. And may the feast return to you, its return more welcome,

While you, as you are now, walk proudly in glory.

  4. The feast came hastening toward your courtyard, where

That feast attained what it had hoped for.

  5. And never could the feast find a lord like you,

Whose rank and station are above the Pleiades.

  6. Glory is truly yours, O peer of al-ʿAtīq,

Whereas the glory of others is a matter of interpretation.

  7. And when the feast came to you, I composed a chronogram: “Indeed, you

Have, O sons of al-Ṣiddīq, firmly rooted glory.”
