1. Forever, souls yearn for you.

    And yours are morning and evening journeys in the heights.

  2. O lords, without whom there would not shine in

    The horizon of noble virtues a dawn of success.

  3. Excellence is only what I have seen in your quarter,

    And above you is a lamp of its light.

  4. The Book proclaimed your glory and your excellence,

    And authentic traditions have related this.

  5. And reports of glory concerning you have come in succession;

    Evening and morning take pride in them.

  6. O you people, through whom have been ennobled

    Regions and broad valleys in the heights.

  7. Who can rival you in glory, when you are a clan

    Of Quraysh, and your fragrance spreads far and wide?

  8. And your sanctuary is a sacred precinct of salvation, and love for you

    Is open to seekers and those who ask for bounty.

  9. And all virtues trace their origin to you,

    And through your hands the Opener opens the way.

  10. It is enough glory for you, O family of Taha,

    That eminence is a necklace for you—an eloquent declaration.

  11. God has singled you out for the noblest rank;

    Inability to string a necklace for you is itself a sash.

  12. I do not turn from loving you, by your sacred right,

    Whether the reproachers hide their words or speak openly.

  13. And when humankind sings of you,

    Then my grateful tongue cries aloud in praise.

  14. For you have set up couches for joy,

    In which souls and bodies rejoice.

  15. And you held a wedding that shines, as though

    Time itself were, through it, a radiant star.

  16. I dated it: “Forever, with a pledge that came to you,

    For Abu al-Falah, a renewal of joys.”

  17. One who loves you is not blamed for loving you,

    Ever; nor is there any sin upon him for it.

  18. May you ever remain people of noble virtues and piety,

    And with you are guidance and reform.

  19. Sweet are you, and sweet is your abode; for that reason

    The praise is sweet, and sweet are those who praise.
