1. تَفاءَلتُ بِالسِكّينِ لما بَعَثتهُ

    لَقَد صَدَقَت مِنّي العِيافَةُ وَالزَجرُ

    I hoped for tranquility when I sent the dagger

    Indeed, the omens and warnings spoke true of me

  2. فَكانَ مِنَ السكّينِ سُكناكَ في الحَشا

    وَكانَ مِنَ القَطعِ القَطِيعَةُ وَالهَجرُ

    Yet the dagger brought you rest in the grave

    And from the cut came separation and estrangement
