وَزِنجِيٍّ أَلَمَّ بِنَورِ لَوزٍ
وَفي كاساتِنا بِنتُ الكرومِ
A black man shone with the light of an almond,
And in our glasses the daughter of vines,
فَقالَ فَتىً مِنَ الفِتيانِ صِفهُ
فَقُلتُ اللَيلُ أَقبَلَ بِالنُجومِ
Then a handsome youth said “Describe it!”
So I said “The night comes with its stars.”
