1. وَمُهَفهَفٍ كَالغُصنِ إِلّا أَنَّهُ

    سَلَبَ التثنِّي النَومُ عَن أَثنائِهِ

    And as supple as a bough, although

    Sleep robbed the folding of his limbs -

  2. أَضحى يَنامُ وَقَد تَحَبَّبَ خَدُّهُ

    عَرَقاً فَقُلتُ الوَردُ رُشَّ بِمائِهِ

    Now he lies sleeping, and his cheek is wet

    With dew. I said "The rose is freshly sprayed with water."
