1. بحمدِ مولانا البديع يُفتتحْ

    بديعُ نظمٍ زانه نَظْمُ المُلَحْ

    With praise of our Master the Unique, it opens

    A unique composition, adorned with excellent structure

  2. من الأراجيز ولكن قد رجَحْ

    ميزانُ بحره بلقطِ الدر

    Of rajaz, but its meter outweighs

    The balance of its ocean with pearls

  3. وفاق بالممدوح كلَّ بحرِ

    ممدوحُنا محمدٌ السعيدُ

    And surpasses the praised one, every ocean

    Our praised one is Muhammad the happy

  4. عزيزُ مصر بالعلا معيدُ

    وهل مجال في الولا بعيدُ

    The dear one of Egypt, with glory restoring

    Is there any far domain in elevation

  5. إلا ويَرقاهُ بأدنى يُسرِ

    بسرِّ عزمٍ في المعالي يَسْرِي

    That he doesn’t make easy with the slightest ease

    With the secret of resolve ascending glories

  6. تحسينُ مصر صار جُلَّ مقصده

    وجالَ في مصدره وموردِه

    Egypt’s improvement became his whole purpose

    It wandered in its sources and waters

  7. وفي جليلِ فكره وخَلده

    قد انجلى تخليدُ عالي الفخر

    And in his great mind and eternity

    The eternalizing of the highest pride shone

  8. لما تجلىَّ شمسُ فكرٍ بِكْرِ

    أنعشَ روحَ الفتية المصريهْ

    When the sun of pure thought rose

    It revived the spirit of Egyptian youth

  9. براح حب الوطن القسريه

    حتى غدت نفوسهم سَرِيَّةْ

    With the wind of love of the dear homeland

    Until their souls became joyful

  10. فصحَّ فوزُ صحوِهم بالسُّكرِ

    وقابلوا إحسانه بالشكر

    And the victory of their vigilance with bliss appeared

    And they met his kindness with gratitude

  11. هاموا بحب الوطن العزيزِ

    فصار ميلُهم لدى غريزي

    They wavered with love of the dear homeland

    So their inclination became instinctive

  12. ومذ كسوْه حليةَ التعزيزِ

    وأنفقوا فيه نَفِيسَ العمرِ

    Since he dressed it with the jewel of empowerment

    And they spent their finest lifetimes on it

  13. لم يخش من زيدٍ ولا من عمرو

    حمىً حوى نهايةَ الأصانه

    It does not fear increase or decrease

    A protected sanctuary, endpoint of safekeeping

  14. وغايةَ التمكّن والحصانَه

    روضٌ إذا هزَّ الصبا أغصانه

    And the utmost stability and fortification

    A meadow, if the morning breeze shakes its branches

  15. ترى عواملَ القنا والسمرِ

    تفعلُ بالألباب فعلَ الخمْرِ

    You see the pillars of reeds and lotuses

    Acting on hearts like wine

  16. حمىً منيعُ الجاه من له التجا

    أشارتْ البشرى إليه بالرجا

    A protected sanctuary of lofty glory for those who seek

    Good tidings alluded to it as hope

  17. ما حله عافٍ لجا إلا نجا

    من ضيقِ أمرٍ أو حلولِ أسر

    No safe place sought it unless successful

    From the distress of matters or chains

  18. ومن خطوبٍ واحتمالِ إصْر

    فياله من حرمٍ وركنِ

    And from adversities and enduring harms

    What a sanctuary and honored pillar!

  19. صرِّح بذكر أمرِه وكنِّي

    عليه منطقُ الملوك يُثنِّي

    Its affair and essence are praised

    The speech of kings sings its praises

  20. عزيزه درةُ تاجِ العصر

    ومصرهُ أبهجُ كل مصرِ

    Its precious pearl crown of the time

    And its Egypt is the most joyous Egypt

  21. إن رمتَ وصفه على التحقيقِ

    فمنظرُ العدل به حقيقي

    If you seek to describe it truly

    The spectacle of justice in it is real

  22. وفىَّ له بأكمل الحقوقِ

    ولم يزلْ مآلنا في البر

    And it fulfilled fully the rights

    And we have not ceased in goodness and dutifulness

  23. يا حُسن بحرٍ في الوفا وبَرِّ

    أميرُ عصر هل يُرى نظيره

    O excellent ocean of loyalty and righteousness

    Is a peer seen for the prince of the age?

  24. حبُّ الفخار والعلا سَميره

    نصيرهُ مولاه بلى ظهيره

    Love of pride and elevation are his friend

    His master, rather his supporter

  25. بعون مولاه قويِّ الظهر

    ذُو مظهرٍ يبلغُ حد الزُّهر

    With the aid of his All-Powerful Lord

    Of magnificent demeanor reaching the peak

  26. أعلا عمادَ الملك نحو الأوجِ

    بعد اضطرابٍ وهياجِ موْجِ

    Exalted the pillar of the kingdom to the highest point

    After disturbance and swelling of waves

  27. بنظم فوْجٍ أو بنثر فوج

    والنظمُ ما أحلاه بعد النثر

    With the system of rows or prose rows

    And poetic rows, how beautiful after prose!

  28. دراً لثغرٍ أو حُلىً لنحر

    يا حبذا نظمُ الصنوف الأربعِ

    Pearls for a mouth or necklace for a throat

    How excellent the structure of the four kinds

  29. من الصفوف في مقامٍ أرفعِ

    نوعُ السواري وضروبُ المدفع

    Of ranks in a supreme standing

    Cavalry and types of cannons

  30. ومعشرُ المشاة أُسْدُ الكرِّ

    والفلكُ من فوق البحار تجري

    And the infantry host lions of attack

    And the ships above the seas flow

  31. رجالُها قد أحرزوا فنونَها

    أبطالها قد أبرزوا مكنونَها

    Its men have achieved its skills

    Its heroes have brought out its secrets

  32. وطالما سام السَّوَى مرصونَها

    وجادَ بالروح لها في المهر

    Often evenly aligning its fixed pillars

    And being generous with spirit for it with skill

  33. وعن حجاه احتجبتْ في خدر

    هل بَلغ اسكندرٌ أن مصرَا

    And because of his glory the veil covered in exclusion

    Did Alexander reach that Egypt

  34. ترجفُ مُلكَ قيصرٍ وكسرى

    كم قَلْبِ جيشٍ أورثته كَسْراً

    Makes tremble the kingdom of Caesar and Chosroes?

    How many hearts of armies it made broken

  35. وقلَّ أن يُجبرَ بعد الكسر

    قلبٌ يقابلُ الوفا بالجبر

    And it is rare to mend after breaking

    A heart that meets loyalty with composure

  36. هل بلغ الماضين أن النيلا

    يخصُّ بالثناءِ إسماعيلا

    Did the past ones reach that the Nile

    Specifically praises Ismail?

  37. عموم نفعِه غدا جَزيلا

    كل لياله ليالي القدرِ

    Its general benefit has become plentiful

    All its nights are like the Night of Value

  38. وليلةٌ خيرٌ من ألف شهر

    من قبله صعيدنا الخصيبُ

    And a night better than a thousand months

    Before it, was our fertile Upper Egypt

  39. هل خصَّهُ من الهنا نَصيبُ

    عزيزنا اجتهاده يصيبُ

    Entitled from bliss a share?

    Our dear, his effort hits the target

  40. يَروى حديث مجده عن بشر

    يسنده لنافعٍ والزهري

    The story of his glory is narrated to us by al-Bashir

    He relates it to us through al-Nafi’ and al-Zuhri

  41. أيامُه لعزنا مظاهرُ

    جدٌ وإقبالٌ ومجدٌ باهرُ

    His days for our glory manifest

    Grandfather, ascendance and evident splendid glory

  42. يمنٌ وإسعادٌ جليٌّ ظاهرُ

    أوضحُ من ضوء الدراري الغرِّ

    Blessing and felicity clear and visible

    Clearer than the light of brilliant full moons

  43. ومن سنا الشمس ونور البدر

    بوارقُ المجد إلهي تُنسبُ

    And the light of the radiant sun and moon's light

    The sails of divine glory are attributed

  44. سرادقُ الحمد عليه تُنصبُ

    وصادقُ الوعد لسانٌ يُعرب

    The canopy of praise erected upon it

    And the honest promise a tongue expresses

  45. عن مابه يبسم ثغرُ الدهر

    مما به تقرُّ عين الحرِّ

    What is in it smiles from the mouth of time

    From what makes the eye of the free smile

  46. أنجاله قرتْ بهم عيونُ

    فَلاحهم محققٌ مضمونُ

    His descendants, through them eyes delighted

    Their success realized and assured

  47. وجوهرُ المجد لهم مكنون

    على المدا يشرحُ كل صدر

    And essence of glory stored for them

    Extended on success every chest

  48. مع ازديادِ إمرةٍ وأمر

    كل كريم يجلبُ الإسعَادا

    With increase of command and order

    Every generous one brings happiness

  49. وينجبُ الأبناء والأحفادا

    شاد العلا بين الملا وسادا

    And begets children and grandchildren

    Elevation built between high and pillow

  50. لا غروَ أن نعيذهم بالفجر

    من حاسدٍ وبالليالي العشر

    No wonder we seek refuge for them at dawn

    From envious one and ten nights

  51. ونسأل المولى بلوغَ القصدِ

    للداوري واكتمالِ السعد

    And we ask the Master attainment of purpose

    For the Dawri and completion of bliss

  52. إدراكُ آمالٍ بغير عدّ

    طلابها متوجٌ بالنصر

    Realization of hopes without count

    Its seekers crowned with victory

  53. والحمد للمولى ختامُ الشعر

    And praise be to the Master, end of poetry
