شادى المسرَّةِ قد شدا

وأجادَ حُسنَ الابتدا

Shady rejoiced and excelled

In starting well and being eloquent

والبشرُ أعلن مُنشدا

شورى تُصادف مولدا

And people proclaimed him a singer

Of a council that coincides with a birth

بأبي الفدا شمسِ الهدى

كنزِ العطا بحرِ الندا

By my father the redeemer, the sun of guidance

The treasure of giving, the sea of generosity

الدهرُ جاد وأسعدا

وأعزّ مصرَ وأيّدا

Time was generous and brought happiness

And strengthened Egypt and supported it

يا حسنَ عيدٍ وافتتاحْ

شُورى بها الأصلاحُ لاحْ

O good holiday and inauguration

A council in which reform appears

عنوانُ أنواعِ الفلاح

في مِصرَ صار مخَّلدا

A title of types of success

In Egypt it became immortalized

بأبي الفدا شمس الهدى

كنز العطا بحر الندا

By my father the redeemer, the sun of guidance

The treasure of giving, the sea of generosity

الدهرُ جاد وأسعدا

وأعزَّ مصر وأيَّدا

Time was generous and brought happiness

And strengthened Egypt and supported it

فالسعد يهتفُ لا عجَبْ

تنظيمُ شورى في رَجَبْ

So happiness cheers, no wonder

The organization of the council in Rajab

عن مصرَ ما كان احتجبْ

في شهره السامي بَدا

Of Egypt what had been veiled

In its sublime month appeared

قمرٌ أنار بمصره

وسمتْ طلائعٌ نصره

A moon that illuminated its Egypt

And its preludes of victory arose

وزهتْ مطالعُ عصره

ببديعِ ما قد جددا

And horizons of its era beamed

With the wonderful thing it renewed

من مثله أحيا الوطن

وأجادَ أعلى ما يظن

One like him revived the homeland

And excelled in the highest expectations

وبه ارتقى أهلُ الفِطن

وسَما الجهادِ تعضَّدا

And through him the discerning rose

And the struggle was strengthened

من مِثلنا بين الدولْ

وهلالُ نظم الملكِ هَلْ

One like us among the nations

And the crescent of the system of the king, has

في المجلسِ الأعلى الأجلْ

إذْ بالنظامِ تقلدا

In the supreme, most dignified council

When endowed with the system

الدهرُ صافي والزمانْ

ووفى بما وعدَ الأوانْ

Time is clear and the era

Fulfilled what the time promised

والسعدُّ عنا تَرجمانْ

هَنَّا العزيزَ الأمجدا

And good fortune is our translator

Does not cease to achieve in purpose

لا زالَ يبلغُ في المرامْ

مجداً أثيلاً لا يُسام

An eternal glory that cannot be rivaled

A great holiday every year

عيداً جليلا كلِّ عام

أبداً يعودُ كما بدا

That always comes back as it began

Convey to him, O Lord of lords

بلّغْهُ يا ربَّ العبادْ

وبنيهِ أربابَ الرشادْ

And his children, the masters of guidance

The heights of happiness and purpose

أوجَ السعادةِ والمراد

في ظله طول المدا

In his shadow the length of permanence

And make him for the upright religion

واجعلْه للدين القويمْ

ركناً مشيداً يَستديمْ

A standing pillar that persists

And continue through him the general benefit

وأدمْ به النفعَ العميمْ

واحفظْ بقاهُ سَرْمَداً

And protect his remaining forever
