1. رعى اللهُ مصراً فهي أبهى كنانةٍ

    حُلاها مدى الأيام واسطةُ السِّلكِ

    Allah has blessed Egypt, for it is the most radiant beauty

    He has adorned it throughout time as the centerpiece

  2. نراها بإسماعيل أعذبَ موردً

    به أبحرُ العرفان جاريةُ الفلكِ

    We see it through Ismail as the sweetest spring

    Through which the sea of mysticism flows as orbits move

  3. بها المشتهى الأشهى فلو قال قائلٌ

    بها جنةُ الفردوسِ ما جاء بالإفكِ

    Through it is the most desirable, pleasurable thing - were someone to say

    It is the Garden of Paradise, he would not speak false

  4. وما هي إلا غادةٌ تسلبُ النهى

    مما جمعت بين الخلاعة والنسك

    It is but a maiden who steals hearts

    With her combination of charm and devotion

  5. كواكب أفراح العزيز بأفقها

    كصبح يقينٍ قد جلا ظُلمة الشك

    The stars of the Ruler's joys shine in its sky

    Like the dawn of certainty that has dispelled the darkness of doubt

  6. ورناتُ أنغمِ المعازفِ أطربَت

    كأن قيان الجن تعبثُ بالجنك

    The melodies of instruments make joyful music

    As if the Jinn are playing with the lute

  7. وملعبُ بالٍ بالحسانِ منعمٌ

    عيونُ غرانيه تغازلُ بالفتك

    It is a playground of delights for the beautiful

    As the eyes of the lovely ones flirt and entice

  8. رياضةُ رقصٍ في كمَالٍ منزهٍ

    عن الريْبِ موزونٍ على التمّ والتك

    A dance performance of consummate grace

    Rhythmically moving with restraint and propriety

  9. وكم من فتاةٍ فيه سَكرى بلا طِلا

    يُراقصها السنيور لطفاً مع السبك

    How many a intoxicated girl dances there gracefully with her partner

    Who treats her with utmost gentleness and care

  10. وفيه صَفىُّ البالِ بالرقصِ مغرمٌ

    يقول لذات الخالِ لا بد لي منك

    And in it is one enamored of dancing with a pure spirit

    Saying to the beauty, I cannot do without you

  11. تميسُ كغصنٍ البانِ عِطفاً وتنثني

    وتفترُّ عن برقٍ تألق بالضحك

    She sways like a supple branch, bending

    Beaming with a radiance that makes her face glow

  12. ولولا الحيا والدينُ والعلمُ والتقى

    لقال حليفُ الزهد قد طابَ لك هتكي

    And were it not for modesty, religion, knowledge and piety

    The ascetic's friend would say "how sweet it is to enjoy you!"

  13. ومجلسُ أنسٍ قد تعطرَ روضُه

    وأرجاؤه فاحتْ بها نفحةُ المسك

    A gathering of intimacy, its garden perfumed

    And filled with the scent of musk in every corner

  14. وفي الجو تقليدُ النجوم منيرةً

    صواريخُ أنوارٍ لشهبِ السما تحكي

    In the air, the glittering stars creatively mimic

    Missiles of light telling tales of the meteors in the sky

  15. تَلَوَّنُ كالحرباء بل ربما حكتْ

    يواقيتَ قد مرتْ على حجر الحك

    Colorfully changing like a chameleon - or perhaps describing

    Jewels passing over the rock of engraving

  16. وحلبةُ سبقٍ بالجياد يزينها

    رماحٌ أُعدتْ للطعان بلا شك

    And the racetrack with its steeds is adorned

    By spears prepared for jousting, no doubt

  17. بتنظيم أوربا تسامى ابتهاجُه

    وما فاته في الحسن طَنطنةُ التُّرك

    With European order its joy has reached new heights

    Lacking nothing of beauty but the pageantry of the Turks

  18. ومذ زَهتْ الأفراحُ قلت مؤرخاً

    بهيجُ العلا تأهيلُ فاميلة الملك

    And when the joys shone forth, I wrote as a historian

    The Ruler's celebration graced by the royal family
