لله منكَ بشائرُ

لعُلاك هُنّ أشائِرُ

God's omens are with you,

Your ascension are omens,

يا جوهراً فرداً به

جُمعتْ بمصر جَواهرُ

O you unique jewel,

In Egypt jewels gathered,

الملكُ يحسده علي

كَ أكاسِرٌ وقَياصِر

The king envies you,

Like breakers and Caesars,

ما يعجز الأقْيالُ عن

ه عليه عزمُك قادر

What generations fail in,

Your determination prevails,

بعزازةٍ أنوارُها

في المشرقين بواهِرُ

With glory its lights,

In both horizons apparent,

الحِلمُ طوْد راسخٌ

والجودُ بحرٌ زاخر

Forbearance a sturdy mansion,

And generosity an abundant sea,

فلأنت بدرٌ والبنو

نَ كما النجومُ زواهر

You are a full moon and sons,

Like stars shining,

ذريةٌ دريةٌ

بسنا حِجاك سَوافر

An offspring honourable,

With your pilgrimage hastening,

السعدُ بُرجُ جميعهم

والملكُ منهم عامِر

Good fortune is their mansion,

And the kingdom through them prosperous,

إن الحما بجمالهم

لمعضد متضافرُ

Truly the pillars with their beauty,

Are a supported alliance,

عن مدح إبراهيم أل

سنةُ الورى تتقاصرُ

Praising Abraham is beyond,

The years of life's capacity,

عن مهرجانٍ ختانِهِ

زهواً تلوح مفاخر

Beyond the festivity of his circumcision,

Pride waves exultant,

إن قيل غصنٌ زاهرٌ

أو قيل عودٌ ناضر

If said a flowering branch,

Or said a blossoming twig,

تنمو الغصونِ إذا جنى

منها المزيدُ الشاطر

The branches grow when,

The excellent is harvested,

والزهرُ يربو في الرُّبَا

وبقطفهِ يتزاهر

And the flowers thrive in abundance,

And with plucking flourish,

قلمُ اليراع إذا انبرى

هرعتْ إليه محابر

The writer’s pen whenactive ,

To it thoughts rush,

والطرف إن زال القَذا

عنه استضاءَ الناظِر

And if sleep leaves the eye,

The viewer lights up,

بالقط شمعةُ مجلسٍ

تُزهى ويزهو السامر

With a cat the candle of a gathering,

Adorns and the companion shines,

ولعض كلبّيْ الأسا

أنسُ الغزال النافر

He made circumcision purity,

The pure prophet,

جعل الختانَ طهارةً

طه النبيُّ الطاهر

Honored with a tradition,

And with it all hasten,

أكرمْ بها من سُنةٍ

وبها الجميعُ يُبادر

And the circumcision of royal sons,

Pride waves in it,

وختانُ أبناء الملو

كِ يلوحُ فيه مفاخر

All singers,

And gatherings and assemblies,

المطرباتُ جميعها

ومجامع ومحاضِرُ

But our Khedive rules Egypt,

With law advising and commanding,

لكن خديو مصرنا

بالشرع ناهٍ آمر

With the noble tradition he,

Adorned circumcision rites,

بالسنة الغرَّاء قد

زانَ الختانَ شعائر

Signs of kindness unmatched,

Between mankind restricted,

آياتُ برٍ مالها

بين البريةِ حَاصر

Freeing prisoners, charity,

Dew, generosity abundant,

عتقٌ وحسنُ تصدُّقٍ

وندىً وجودٌ وافر

Joining the livelihood of the weak,

With that intents arose,

إطلاقُ مسجونٍ جنى

ولكل كسرٍ جابر

Killing the sinner with forgiveness,

So he reformed frightened,

إيصالُ عيشِ ذوي العفا

لاحتْ بذاك أمائر

Who buys fame with wealth,

Is an excellent merchant,

قتل الأثيمَ بصفحِه

فأنابَ وهو يُحاذر

For the branch all praising,

For the root all thankful,

من يشتري بالجاه ذخ

راً فهو نعم التاجر

O star in his Egypt,

To it all look,

للفرع كلٌ حامدٌ

للأصل كلٌ شاكر

Far from fulfilling the right of praise,

An arranger or disseminator,

يا كوْكباً في مصرِه

كل إليه ناظرُ

But I chronicled it,

Glorious your circumcision evident.

حاشَا يوفِّي حقّ مد

حك ناظمٌ أو ناثر

لكنني أرَخْتُه

باهٍ ختانُك باهرُ
