يا مصرُ أنتِ أرضُ كل مُعجزه
كم فيكِ من آثار فخرٍ مُنجزه
O Egypt, you are the land of every miracle
How many monuments of pride you have accomplished
قد عُدتِ كالعصر القديم مُنتزه
لله إسماعيلُ فيما أبرزه
You have become like the ancient era, a paradise
Thanks to God for Ismail for what he has presented
في حيِّز الوجودِ فوقَ الحدِّ
يدومُ فخره كما الأهرامْ
In the realm of existence, above all limits
His pride endures as the pyramids do
ولم يزل يَقرنُ بالتحدِّي
بدايعاً صحيحة المرامْ
And he continues to challenge
With wonders, righteous in purpose
يعيشُ إسماعيلُ ربُّ المجدِ

ما أنتِ إلا روضةٌ بَهيَّة
شمسُ عُلاك بالسَّنا زَهيَّهْ
You are but a beautiful garden
Your sun shines brightly with joy
بالنيل خصبُ أرضك الزكيه
قد سطعتْ أخبارُك السنيهْ
The fertile land of the Nile makes your soil bountiful
Your brilliant news has shone
شعاعُها انبثت بأرضِ الهندِ
والصينِ والرومِ وأرضِ الشامْ
Its rays spread across India
And China, Rome and the Levant
لما انطفا النورُ بدهرٍ مُردِي
قد سَخر المولى له محام
When the light rose in a ruinous age
The Almighty appointed him a protector

عقلٌ وحيدٌ لا تُجاريه الرجالْ
يحولُ في سَبق العُلا أعلى مجالْ
A singular mind, unmatched by men
He excels in the highest endeavors
محمدُّ الاسمِ عليٌّ في الفِعالْ
أنار أفقَ مصرَ شبهَ الهلالْ
Muhammad in name, Ali in action
He illuminated the horizon of Egypt like a crescent
مذ قام بالحفيد سرُّ الجدِّ
فبدرُه جَلى دُجَى الظلامْ
Since the secret of the ancestor was fulfilled in the grandson
His full moon dispelled the darkness of gloom
فكرٌ منيرٌ من أميرِ جُندِ
صيَّر جيشَ الجهل في انهزامْ
An enlightened mind from the prince of soldiers
Who made the army of ignorance retreat

لما اصطفى الجليلُ إسماعيلا
لملك مصر سيِّداً كَفيلا
When the Sublime chose Ismail
To be the guarantor king of Egypt
وأشبهتْ طفلا غدا عَليلا
عدَّلها بطبِّه تَعديلا
And it resembled an infant who later fell ill
He corrected it with his medicine properly
بعدلِ قانونٍ وعَقْدِ بَنْدِ
أزال جَورَ الحكم والحُكّامْ
With the justice of law and a treaty's contract
He removed the injustice of rulers and kings
ونسخَ الرخصةَ والتعدي
وانقادَ للأصول والأحكام
And abolished licenses and transgressions
And submitted to principles and laws

بنى على العدل أساسَ مُلكهْ
ونظمَ الفنونَ ضِمنَ سِلكه
He built the foundation of his rule on justice
And organized the arts within his realm
وعظَّمَ العلمَ وأهلَ نُسْكهِ
ذُو العقل إن يفحْ عبيرَ مِسكه
And glorified knowledge and its people
The reasonable one, if his musk scent flows
بطيب في التشويق كل جهد
نعز لدى الأمير بالإكرام
With goodness in motivation, every effort
Is cherished by the prince with honor
يبذل في التشويق كلَّ جهدِ
بقدرِ حظِ الفضل في السهام
He makes every effort in motivating
According to the share of virtue in the arrows
يعيش إسماعيل ربُّ المجد

حَلَّى جبينَ مجمعِ البحرينِ
بتاج عزّ رائقٍ للعَينِ
He adorned the forehead of the Gulf assembly
With a crown of beautiful grace
وقبله كان كلا الشطين
يَلطمُ خدَّ الماءِ بالكفين
While before it, both shores
Would slap the water's cheek with palms
فذلك التاجُ قرينُ سَعد
يلمعُ فوقَ الماء كالحسام
That crown is a companion of bliss
Gleaming above the water like swords
يدعُو لإسماعيل ربُّ الرشدِ
بنصرةِ البنود والأعْلام
Calling for Ismail, the Lord of Righteousness
With the support of treaties and flags
يعيش إسماعيل ربُّ المجدِ
على مدى الأجيال والأعوام

لما رَقى ذُر العلا وصَعدا
لم يترك الأهواءْ في الناس سُدى
When he ascended the height of sublimity
He did not leave desires wild among the people
عطفهم رفقاً بهم صوبَ الهدى
كلفهم بأن يحوزوا السؤددا
He attracted them gently towards guidance
Tasking them to acquire armament
فالعقلُ في عهد العزيز مُهدَى
نحوَ العلوم لا إلى الأوهامْ
Thus the mind in the era of the Praiseworthy
Is guided towards knowledge, not fantasies
وإنما تمامُ هذا القصد
توسيعُهُ دوائرَ الأفهام
And the perfection of this purpose
Is expanding the horizons of comprehension

لم يفتخرْ بزهرة الإماره
بل رامَ بالرعية افتخاره
He did not boast of the blossom of rule
But he sought to boast of caring for the public
وَضَعَ بنيه بينهم إشاره
لفكِّ قيد الذل والحقاره
And he made his children among them a sign
To release the shackles of humiliation and contempt
فحسبُهم فكاكُ هذا القيدِ
وعتقهم مِن زِلة الأقدام
It was enough for them to release these shackles
And free them from the disgrace of feet
فأعلنوا بشكره والحمد
ما أحسنَ الشكر على الإنعام
So they declared with gratitude and praise
How excellent gratitude is for a gift!

قد لهجتْ بمدحه اللغاتُ
ورددت نشيدَه الأصواتُ
Languages have echoed with his praise
And voices repeated his anthem
لم يَروِ مثلَ فخرِه الرواةُ
عن ملكٍ شهمٍ له هِباتُ
The storytellers have not seen the like of his pride
For a courageous king with such gifts
تجعل هنداً في النُّهى كزيدِ
والدرسُ للأُنثى كما الغُلامْ
That make India forbidden to violate
And the lesson for the female like the boy
من بعد أسرها بقيدِ وَغدِ
بالعلم حازتْ صفةَ احترام
After their capture in the shackles of subjugation
With knowledge they attained the trait of respect

وبالحنان الأبويِّ رتَّبا
تربيةَ البناتِ من عهد الصِّبا
With paternal compassion, he arranged
The education of girls since the age of childhood
يقضين من حقِّ النهى ما وجبا
يحرزنَ عِلماً نافعاً وأدبا
Fulfilling the duty of prohibition as required
They gained beneficial knowledge and manners
تشملهن منه عينُ الرشد
ونجدةُ العزمِ والاهتمام
The eye of guidance covers them
And the aid of determination and care
حتى يصلنَ بعقول النقدِ
لقوة التفهم والإفهام
Until they attain with minds of critique
The power of comprehension and understanding

في عهده كلُّ الرعايا فرِحتْ
لأنه وَافى على ما اقترحتْ
In his era, all the subjects rejoiced
Because he fulfilled what was proposed
وروح جده بها انشرحتْ
كأنها من الضريحِ سَرحتْ
And the spirit of his ancestor through him relaxed
As if it escaped from the tomb
مُضيئةَ الجبينِ فوقَ طودٍ
سامى الذرا عن سائر الأعلام
Radiant of forehead above the high dunes
Lofty of elevation above all flags
تنظرُ من أعلى بغير عدِّ
عجائباً لم تُحصَ بالأقلام
Looking down from the highest without equal
At wonders not enumerated by pens

نادتْ بالاستعجاب أيها الحفيدْ
ما أنت في كَسْب العلا إلا فريدْ
Europe calls you with the subjects
By God's blessing over the lands
ما أعجز الملوكَ في الدهر المديدِ
وافاك بالتدبير والفكر السديد
A gift from the most generous gifts
Italy has attained advantages
أحييتَ مجداً من قَرارِ لِحد
وعِظَماً كان مع العِظامْ
A full moon of praise for the noble one is gifted
For mere veneration and respect
وهكذا النجلُ النجيبُ يُبدي
عظائمَ الأسلافِ باقتحام
The people sought to fulfill
The duties of love with sublime poetry

بمدحِك اهتزتْ ضروبُ النغمِ
انعشتْ الملوكُ بعدَ العدمِ
They gifted you these niceties
A unique pearl in your protection
لما رأوْا عجائبَ التقدمِ
إعجابهم ما كان بالمكتتمِ
Embedded within it they placed niceties
That dazzle minds and cognizance
فاجتمعوا بالعودِ قبل العودَ
لينشدوا مدحاً على الأنغام
Above pricing them with valuables
As exquisite jewels of perfection
وأجمعوا على مليكٍ فردِ
مؤيدٍ بالسلم والسلام
The extending light of their brilliance rises
Radiant with the light of your smiling face

عشْ في أمانِ الله يا أبهى أميرْ
مشرفاً تاج المعالي والسرير
When you knew my affection was pure
And my love for you was faithful
تاريخُ هذا الجيل والعصرِ الأخير
يدعُوك مع أعلى الملوك بالنظير
I composed eulogies for him with rhymes
If met with acceptance, it would be enough
أنت الوحيدُ في العلاَ والجد
وفي المساعي ثابتُ الأقدامِ
The lover is pleased in the bond of affection
With a witness to growing passion
عش في أمان اللهِ دون ضِدِّ
أعدْت عصرَ الذهب الإسلامي
So the witness of affection is like the taste of honey
Or the joining of the cord of pact and ties

عشْ في أمان الله يا من أعلى
لأهل مِصره مقاماً أعلى
When you entrusted affection to me unsullied
And my sincere love for you was faithful
مذ كنتَ للرأفة فيهم أهلا
صرتَ من الأب الشفيق أولى
I composed verses in eulogy for him
If met with acceptance, it would be sufficient
فأنت للكل أبٌ في الودِّ
أنتَ الولي والنصيرُ الحامي
The lover is pleased in the bond of affection
With evidence of growing passion
بالرفق قد فقتَ وصدقِ الوعد
فصرتَ محبوباً لدى الأنام
So the witness of affection is like the taste of honey
Or the joining of the cord of pact and ties

تدعوكَ أوربا مع الرعايا
بنعمةِ الله على البرايا
Live in God's safety, O most splendid prince
Exalted with the crown of glory and throne
عطيةٌ من أجزالِ العطايا
إيطاليا قد حازتِ المزايا
The history of this generation and recent age
Calls you among the highest of kings as a peer
بِدرُ مَدحٍ للجناب تُهدى
لمحض إجلالٍ مع احتشامْ
You are unique in sublimity and endeavor
Steadfast of steps despite adversity
قد رام جمعَ أهلها يُؤدي
فرائضَ الحب بشعرٍ سامْ
Live in God's safety without contention
You have restored the golden Islamic age
بعيش إسماعيل رب المجد
على مدى الأجيال والأعوام

Across generations and years
أهدوا إليك هذه الطرائِفا
فريدُ دُرٍّ في حِماك طائفا
Live in God's safety, O you who have elevated
For the people of your Egypt an elevated station
في ضمنه قد أودعوا لطائفا
تُحيرُ الألبابَ والمعارفا
Since you were kind to them, becoming worthy
You became more compassionate than a caring father
تجل عن تسويمها بنقدٍ
جواهراً بديعةَ النظام
You are to all a father in affection
You are the patron and protector
يسمو شعاعُ نورها الممتد
يَزْهو بنور وَجهك البسام
With kindness you have succeeded and kept your promise
Becoming beloved among the people

لما عهدتَ الودَّ مني صَافيا
وصِدقَ حُبي في الجناب وافيا
نظمتُ في المدح له قوافيا
إن تحظ بالقبولِ كان كافيا
يُرضى المحبَّ في ارتباطِ الود
بشاهدٍ على الوداد النامي
فشاهدُ الود كطعم الشهد
أو وَصْلِ حَبل العهدِ والذمام
