يا دارَ أَسماءَ بِالأَمثالِ فَالرَجلِ
حُيّيتِ مِن دَمنَةٍ قَفرٍ وَمِن طَلَلِ
O house of Asma, exemplified in proverbs, and the man
Greeted from barren wilderness and from hills
كَأَنَّها بَعدَ عَهدِ العاهِدينَ بِها
مَهارِقُ العجمِ أَو موشِيَّةُ الحُلَلِ
As if after the era of those who covenanted with it
It is the nighttime sojourns of non-Arabs or the land’s embroidered cloak
دارٌ غُنينا بِها حيناً وَأَيٍّ غِنى
عَن أَهلِهِ يا اِبنَةَ اللضَبِّيِ لَم يَحُلِ
A house we were rich with once, but what riches
Can compare to its people, O daughter of al-Labbi, it cannot replace
