وَاعرَضَ واسِطَ فَعَدَلنَ عَنهُ

وَاعرَضَ واسِطَ فَعَدَلنَ عَنهُ

كَما عَدَلَ الصَرارِيُّ السَفينا

كَما عَدَلَ الصَرارِيُّ السَفينا

And Wasit came into view, so they turned away from it,

He turned away an intermediary, so we turned from him

Just as the sailor turned the ships aside,

As the swift sailboat turns away

عَلى الجُهّالِ وَالمَتَعَبِّدينا

عَلى الجُهّالِ وَالمَتَعَبِّدينا

Upon the ignorant and the devout.
