The daughter of Al-Amri said on her last night,

"Why were you deprived of sleep tonight, oh wakeful one?"

So I said to her, "My people, I fear for them,

Lest folly befalls them, of which I warn.

May you not know yourselves again after glory and wealth,

Of which it would be said, 'Behold those armies!'

Do not place your wars in your own chests,

As nails are driven into planks."
