From a dunghill by Al-Matihi did you know her

Long by Al-Matihi was her dwelling

Tears disobeyed you, so weep abundantly

When her eyelids overflowed over you

Oblivion erased her traces with time until she became unrecognizable

As if the parchment of a skilled calligrapher adorned her

A script from his hand, therein a dal and a seen

Extravagance came before generosity in Umm Wasil’s son

And none guarded secrets like her confidant

She was never treacherous, for treachery is her namesake

And no soul counseled another to betray it

You extended ropes from yourself until they snapped

And the strength of ropes does not fail

Are not those ruins crying for their elders

Over a dear son when his protection failed?

You were not fair to yourself if you attached

To any passion that made you sleepless except her

She has a longing that despair did not reach

From the confounded hopes and passions, abundant are her sorrows

Meanness came before generosity in Umm Wasil’s son

And none guarded secrets like her confidant

I embarrassed Jarir son of ‘Atan and his people

And their lineages on the day of reckoning will humiliate them

By your life, Kalib is blind to the creed

By which the nomads worship their religion

Ruins will reach Yarbu’a in his remote abode

The offenses I caused her brought her sorrows

Yarbu’a puts you to shame whenever she recalls you

And you put her to shame whenever you defend against her

The vilest creature alive and the evilest

Under the soil buried are her remains

Every human is made of Adam’s clay

And Yarbu’a’s clan is made of the vilest clay

Waraqa Yarbu’iya, an evil parent raised her

A despised breeder, so she and her fetus became rotten

Evil is what’s beneath her clothes, as if she were

An ancient sphere, prolonged became her moons

Whenever she recalls her habits, a scabby woman

Shakes her head and becomes possessed in her madness

And Maytha’ Yarbu’iya grinds with her vulva

That she leaks flour whenever she grinds

The millstone takes from her crotch and vulva

Slices whenever the miller sculpts it with his right hand

And take captive the women of Banu Hudhayl

They did not catch up when their yearning prolonged

The last they saw of their women

Were their hind parts tied with tails

Mounted behind calling you while their left

Hands point backwards and the Hudhayli right hands forward

Had you attacked during the inviolable months

Neither would the virgins nor assistants of women depart with the tribe

You see between her eyes an evident book

Which her father inscribed, degrading her religion

The most disgraceful thing for Banu Yarbu’a is that their women

Support vile riffraff, a despised company

When she farts her vulva brings disgraceful winds

And when she abstains her stomach brings disgraceful winds

The honor of Taym’s lineages is modesty

While Yarbu’a’s lineages are unprotected by modesty

If Taym is attributed then their poetry illuminates

The rhyming prose and its themes remain continuous

We are the sons of knights, the day

Winds blew away all protection and dens

And the sons of the knights of dogs while you are

The sons of mule riders whose eyes never dry

So deliver oh son of Mursal these winds for me

Panting, for I will disgrace her

Riyah thought I will never insult her

She was wrong when she thought her thoughts
