جَدَعتُ رياحا بِالقَصائِدِ بَعدَما

وَطِئتُ جَريرا وَطأَةَ المُتَثاقِلِ

I composed winds with poems after

I trod Jaareer with the gait of one heavy laden,

فَإِن يُخزِ يَربوعا فِعالُ حَديثِهِم

فَقَد كانَ أَخزاهُمُ تُراثُ الأَوائِلِ

So if the talk of them abases Yaarboo',

Then their heritage had abased them aforetime.

إِذا ما ابنُ يَربوعيَّةٍ طَرَّقَت بِهِ

فَقَد طَرَّقَت بِاللُؤمِ بَينَ القَوابِلِ

When the son of Yaarboo'iyah is hit with decay,

Then decay has hit the ignoble among the generations.

تَرى بَظرَها بَينَ القَوابِلِ كامِلا

ذِراعا وَشِبرا وَابنَها غَيرَ كامِلِ

You see its vulva between the generations perfect,

A cubit and a span while her son is imperfect.
