قَد أتينَاكَ للسلامِ مِرَاراً

غَير مَنٍّ بِنا بتلكَ المِرَارِ

We have come to you for greetings many times,

Not counting those visits as a favor from us;

فَإذا أنتَ في استِتارك بالليل

على مثلِ حَالِنا في النَّهارِ

But found you, in your concealment by night,

Just like our own condition in the day.
