1. وَمَولىً عَصاني وَاِستَبَدَّ بِرَأيِهِ

    كَما لَم يُطَع بِالبَقَّتَينِ قَصيرُ

    A rebellious slave who imposed his will

    As none were ever obeyed in this trivial land

  2. فَلَمّا رَأى ما غِبُّ أَمري وَأَمرِهِ

    وَوَلَّت بِأَعجازِ الأُمورِ صُدورُ

    When he saw the strange turns of my affairs and his

    And how events had turned their backs and fled

  3. تَمَنّى نَئيشاً أَن يَكونَ أَطاعَني

    وَقَد حَدَثَت بَعدَ الأُمورِ أُمورُ

    He wished, in anguish, he had obeyed me

    For after those events, others occurred
