لك اللَه من ندب إذا هم صمما
وطلاع أنجاد إذا أم يمما
To you belongs praise from God when resolves are firm,
And rising stars when a mother weans her child.
وذي مرة لا ينكت الروع شزرها
إذا الخطب أبدى ناجذيه تبسما
And a time of hardship whose severity does not kill the spirit
When troubles show their fangs, it only smiles.
نقاب بأعقاب الأمور محدث
كأن له منها عليها مترجما
Events cloak themselves until their time comes,
As though each has a translator for the others.
إذا عرضت في جانب الملك زيغة
رآها قذى الأجفان أو تتقوما
If deviation appears in a kingdom's side,
He sees it as a sleep in the eyelids or about to happen.
وقام بأعباء الوزارة ناصحاً
ووطأ فاستقصى وشاد فأحكما
He took on the burdens of leadership sincerely,
And trod carefully, investigating and wisely judging.
من النفر الغر الأولى تركت لهم
عزايمهم في غرة الدهر ميسما
Of the elite people of early times, he left them
Their resolves at the start of time as a tradition.
إذا ظمئت بيض الظبا في أكفهم
تحاشوا لها وردا سوى مصدر الظما
When wild animals thirst in their grasp,
They avoid roses for them, save the source of thirst.
لقد قرنوا بالنجدة العلم والتقى
وقد نظموا طعمين شهداً وعلقما
They combined aid, knowledge and piety,
And composed two harmonious, sweet flavors.
فمنبحث علم ينثر الدر مشرقاً
إلى بحث نقع ينثر الهام ادهما
Whoever seeks knowledge scattering pearls brightly,
To seeking the deep that scatters dark priceless gems.
ففي الجدب يستسقي بفضلهم الحيا
وفي الروع تستسقي بعضهم الدما
In dry times, the living drink from their virtue,
And in frightful times, some drink blood from them.
فيا أسد اللَه الذي فيد فم ال
فرية إلا من فم الأسد مطعما
O Lion of God, whose abundance the mouths of others boast of,
Except the mouth of lions has no food.
ليهنك فتح بشرتك سعوده
بأقبال عز يملأ الأرض والسما
May your conquests give joy to your youthful face,
With the fortunes of glory that fill the earth and sky.
رأيت به الإسلام فالتام شعبه
وقد كربت أركانه أن تهدما
I saw through it Islam fulfilled in its people,
And its pillars strengthened lest they be ruined.
فعلت بجيش الكفر ما أنت فاعل
وجرعته كأساً من الذل علقما
You did to the army of unbelief what you do,
And made it drink a cup of humiliation and aloes.
فأخرت حتى لم تجد متأخرا
وأقدمت حتى لم تجد متقدما
You held back until you found none left behind,
And advanced until you found none ahead.
وما اختار هول البحر إلا لأنه
رأي موجه من موج سيفك أسلما
The sea chose only dread out of fear,
It saw its wave from the wave of your sword turn Muslim.
فطوقتها طوق الحمامة نعمة
وانا لنرجو فوقها لك أنعما
You besieged it with the siege of grace,
And I hope for you above it even more grace.
إلى أن تعود الأرض بالأمن كعبة
حراما وكل الدهر شهراً محرما
Until the land returns as a safe sanctuary,
Forbidden, and all time a holy month.
