1. هذا «نفمبر»، قم! وحيّ المدفعا

    واذكر جهادك والسنين الأربعا

    This is November—rise and salute the cannon,

    And remember your struggle and the four years passed.

  2. واقرأ كتابك، للأنام مفصلاً

    تقرأ به الدنيا الحديث الأروعا!

    Read your book, detailed for all mankind,

    Through which the world reads the most magnificent tale!

  3. واصدعْ بثورتك الزمان وأهله

    واقرعْ بدولتك الورى والمجمعا

    Split open Time and its people with your revolution,

    And strike the world and its assemblies with your state.

  4. واعقدْ لحقّك في الملاحم ندوةً

    يقف السلاح بها خطيباً مصقعا

    Convene a council for your rights amidst the epics,

    Where the weapon stands as an eloquent orator.

  5. وقل الجزائر! واصغِ إن ذكر اسمها

    تجد الجبابرَ ساجدين وركّعا

    Say "Algeria!" and listen when her name is spoken,

    You shall find tyrants bowing and prostrate.

  6. إن الجزائر في الوجود رسالةٌ

    الشعب حرّرها، وربّك وقَّعا

    Algeria is, in all existence, a divine message:

    The people composed it, and your Lord signed it.

  7. إن الجزائر قطعٌة قدسيةٌ

    في الكون لحنها الرصاص ووقّعا

    Algeria is a sacred fragment of reality;

    Upon the cosmos, bullets composed and timed its melody.

  8. وقصيدةٌ أزليةٌ، أبياتها

    حمراء، كان لها «نفمبر» مطلعا

    An eternal poem whose verses are writ in red,

    For which November served as the opening line.

  9. نظمت قوافيها الجماجمُ في الوغى

    وسقى النجيعُ رويَّها فتدفَّعا

    Skulls composed its rhymes amidst the fray,

    And flowing blood watered its poetic meter.

  10. غنّى بها حرُّ الضمير، فأيقظت

    شعبًا إلى التحرير شمَّر مسرعا

    The free conscience sang it, awakening a nation

    That rolled up its sleeves, rushing toward liberation.

  11. سمع الأصمُّ رنينَها فعنا لها

    ورأى بها الأعمى الطريقَ الأنصعا

    The deaf heard its resonance and submitted,

    And through it, the blind saw the clearest path.

  12. ودرى الألى جهلوا الجزائر أنها

    قالت «أريد» فصمَّمتْ أن تلمعا

    Those ignorant of Algeria came to know

    That she spoke "I will," and resolved to shine.

  13. ودرى الأُلى، جحدوا الجزائر، أنها

    ثارت، وحكّمت الدما والمدفعا

    Those who denied Algeria came to know

    She had risen, making blood and cannons the judge.

  14. شقّتْ طريقَ مصيرها بسلاحها

    وأبت بغير المنتهى، أن تقنعا

    She carved the path of her destiny with weapons,

    Refusing to settle for anything less than the ultimate goal.

  15. شعبٌ دعاه إلى الخلاص بُناتُه

    فانصبَّ مذ سمع الندا وتطوَّعا

    A people called to salvation by their architects,

    Who poured forth and volunteered the moment they heard the call.

  16. نادى به جبريلُ في سوق الفدا

    فشرى وباع بنقدها وتبرَّعا

    Gabriel announced it in the marketplace of sacrifice;

    So they bought and sold with their lives, and gave freely.

  17. فلكم تصارع والزمان فلم يجد

    فيه الزمانُ وقد توحّد مطمعا

    How often they wrestled with Time, yet Time found

    No weakness to exploit once they stood united.

  18. واستقبلَ الاحداثَ منها ساخرًا

    كالشّامخات تمنُّعًا وترفُّعا

    They faced the events with mocking scorn,

    Like towering mountains in their defiance and pride.

  19. وأراده المستعمرون عناصرًا

    فأبى مع التاريخ أن يتصدَّعا

    The colonizers sought to shatter them into fragments,

    But they, with History, refused to crack.

  20. واستضعفوه فقرروا إذلاله

    فأبت كرامته له أن يخضعا

    They deemed them weak and sought their humiliation,

    But their dignity forbade them to submit.

  21. واستدرجوه، فدبروا إدماجه

    فأبت عروبته له أن يُبلعا

    They lured them, plotting their assimilation,

    But their Arab identity refused to be swallowed.

  22. وعن العقيدة زوّروا تحريفه

    فأبى مع الإيمان أن يتزعزعا

    They falsified and distorted their creed,

    But with Faith, they refused to be shaken.

  23. وتعمّدوا قطع الطريق فلم تُرِد

    أسبابه بالعرب أن تتقطعا

    They deliberately severed the path, yet their bonds

    To the Arabs refused to be severed.

  24. نسبٌ بدنيا العرب زكّى غرسَه

    ألمٌ، فأورقَ دوحُه وتفرَّعا

    A lineage in the Arab world, whose roots were watered

    By pain, until the great tree bloomed and branched.

  25. سببٌ، بأوتار القلوب، عروقه

    إن رنّ هذا، رنّ ذاك، ورجّعا

    A bond whose veins run through the heartstrings:

    If one resonates, the other rings out and echoes.

  26. إما تنهَّدَ بالجزائر موجعٌ

    آسى الشآم جراحَه وتوجَّعا

    If one in pain sighs within Algeria,

    The Levant tends to his wounds and shares the pain.

  27. واهتزَّ في أرض الكنانة خافقٌ

    وأقضّ في أرض العراق المضجعا

    If a heart trembles in the land of Egypt,

    It disturbs the slumber in the land of Iraq.

  28. وارتجّ في الخضراء، شعبٌ ماجدٌ

    لم تثنه أرزاؤه أن يفزعا

    And in Green Tunisia, a glorious people trembles,

    Undeterred by their own calamities from rushing to aid.

  29. وهوت مراكش حوله وتألمت

    لبُـنان، واسْتَعْدتْ جُدَيْسَ وتُبَّعا!

    Marrakech rallied around him, grieving for Lebanon,

    Summoning the ancient spirits of Jadis and Tubba'.

  30. تلك العروبة إن تثِر أعصابَها

    وَهَنَ الزمانُ حيالها وتضعضعا!!

    Such is Arabism: if you provoke its nerve,

    Time itself weakens and crumbles before it!

  31. الضّاد، في الأجيال خَلَّدَ مجدها

    والجرحُ وحَّدَ في هواها المنزعا

    The Arabic tongue has immortalized her glory through the ages,

    And the wound has united all directions in her love.

  32. فتماسكت بالشرق جمهوريةً

    عربيةً وجدت بمصر المرتعا

    Thus, an Arab Republic held firm in the East,

    Finding its stronghold within Egypt.

  33. ولَـمصرُ دارٌ للعروبة، حرةٌ

    تؤوي الكرامَ، وتسند المتطلِّعا

    For Egypt is a free home for Arabism,

    Sheltering the noble and supporting the aspirant.

  34. سحرت روائعها المدائن عندما

    ألقى عصاه، بها الكليم فروّعا

    Her wonders enchanted the cities when

    Moses cast his staff therein, striking awe.

  35. وتحدّثُ الهرمَ الرهيبَ، مُباهيًا

    بجلالها الدنيا، فأنطق يُوشعا

    He conversed with the terrible Pyramid, boasting

    To the world of her majesty, making Joshua speak.

  36. واللهُ سطّر لوحَها بيمينه

    وبنهرها سكب الجمال فأبدعا

    God inscribed her tablet with His own right hand,

    And poured beauty into her river, creating a marvel.

  37. النيل فتّح للغريب ذراعه

    والشّعب فتّح للشّقيقِ، الأضلُعا

    The Nile opened its arms to the stranger,

    And the people opened their hearts to their brothers.

  38. والجيشُ، طهر بالقتال، قنالها

    و«جمال» أعمل في حشاها المبضعا

    The army purified her Canal through battle,

    And Gamal skillfully wielded the scalpel within her.

  39. والطّور أبكى من تعوّد أن يرى

    في حائط المبكى يسيل الأدمعا

    Mount Sinai brought tears to those accustomed

    To shedding tears at the Wailing Wall.

  40. والسدُّ سَدَّ على اللئام منافذًا

    وأزاح عن وجه الذئاب البُرقُعا

    The High Dam blocked the paths of the wicked,

    And tore the veil from the faces of wolves.

  41. وتعلم «التاميز» عن أبنائها

    «والسين» درساً في السياسة مقنعا

    The Thames learned from her sons,

    And the Seine, a convincing lesson in politics.

  42. وتعلم المستعمرون حقيقةً

    تبقى لمن جهل العروبة مرجعا

    And the colonizers learned a truth

    That remains a reference for those ignorant of Arabism.

  43. دنيا العروبة لا ترجحُ جانبًا

    في الكتلتين، ولا تفضّلُ موضعا

    The Arab world tilts not to one side

    Between the two blocs, nor favors one stance.

  44. للشّرق، في هذا الوجود رسالةٌ

    عَلْماء، صدّق وحيها فتجمَّعا

    The East bears a lofty message in this existence;

    It believed in its revelation, and thus united.

  45. يا مصرُ! يا أختَ الجزائر في الهوى!

    لك في الجزائر حرمة لن تُقطعا!

    O Egypt! O sister of Algeria in passion!

    You hold a sacred bond in Algeria that shall never be severed!

  46. هذي خواطر شاعرٍ، غنّى بها

    في الثورة الكبرى فقال وأسمعا

    These are the thoughts of a poet who sang them

    During the Great Revolution, speaking for all to hear.

  47. وتشوقاتٌ، من حبيسٍ موثقٍ

    ما انفكَّ صبّاً، بالكنانةً مولعا

    And yearnings from a bound prisoner,

    Who remains a lover, devoted to the land of Egypt.

  48. خلُصت قصائده، فما عرف البكا

    يوماً، ولا ندبَ الحِمى والمربعا

    His poems were pure; he knew not how to weep,

    Nor how to mourn over ruins and lost homes.

  49. إن تدعُه الأوطانُ، كان لسانَها

    أو تدعه الجلّى، أجاب وأسرعا

    If the homelands call, he becomes their voice;

    If calamity calls, he answers with haste.

  50. سمع الذبيح ببربروسَ فأيقظتْ

    صرخاته، شعر الخلود فلعلعا

    He heard the martyr in Barbarossa, and his screams

    Awoke the poetry of eternity, which thundered aloud.

  51. ورآه كبّر للصّلاة، مهللاً

    في مذبح الشهدا فقام مسمِّعا

    He saw him chanting "God is Great" for prayer,

    At the altar of martyrs, his voice rising clear.

  52. ورأى القنابلَ كالصواعق إن هوتْ

    تركت حصون ذوي المطامع بلقعا

    He saw bombs falling like thunderbolts,

    Leaving the fortresses of the greedy as barren wastelands.

  53. ورأى الجزائر، بعد طول عنائها

    سلكت بثورتها السبيل الأنفعا

    And he saw Algeria, after her long suffering,

    Taking the most righteous path through her revolution.

  54. وطنٌ يعزُّ على البقاء وما انقضى

    رغم البلاء، عن البلى، متمنِّعا

    A homeland too proud to perish,

    Refusing decay despite the weight of affliction.

  55. لم يرضَ يوماً بالوثاق، ولم يزلْ

    متشامخاً مهما النكال تنوَّعا

    It never accepted shackles, and remained

    Towering high, no matter the torture inflicted.

  56. هذي الجبالُ الشاهقات شواهدٌ

    سخرت بمن مسخ الحقائق وادعى

    These towering mountains are witnesses,

    Mocking those who distorted facts and made false claims.

  57. سَلْ «جرجرا» تنبئك عن غضباتها

    واستفت «شليا» لحظةً و «شلعلعا»

    Ask Djurdjura, it will tell you of its wrath;

    Seek the verdict of Chelia and Chalaala for a moment.

  58. واخشع بـ «وارشنيس» إن ترابها

    ما انفك للجند المعطر مصرعا

    Stand in awe at Ouarsenis, for its soil

    Remains a graveyard for the perfumed legions.

  59. كسرت «تلمسان» الضليعةُ ضلعَه

    ووهى «بصبرة» صبره فتوزَّعا

    Stalwart Tlemcen shattered their ribs,

    And in Sabra, their patience broke and scattered.

  60. ودعاه «مسعود» فأدبر، عندما

    لاقاه «طارق» سافراً ومقنّعا

    Messaoud called him and he fled, when

    Tariq met him, both masked and unveiled.

  61. الله فجّر خلده برمالنا

    وأقام عزرائيل يحمي المنبعا!!

    God burst forth His bounty in our sands,

    And stationed Azrael to guard the wellspring!

  62. تلك الجزائر تصنع استقلالها

    تَخِذَتْ لها، مُهَجَ الضحّايا، مصنعا

    That is Algeria, forging her independence;

    She made the souls of martyrs her factory.

  63. طاشت بها الطرقات، فاختصرت لها

    نهج المنايا للسيادة مَهْيَعا

    The paths were confusing, so she chose the shortcut:

    The road of death leading straight to sovereignty.

  64. وامتصّها المتزعمون، فأصبحت

    شِلواً، بأنياب الذئاب ممزّعا

    The exploiters drained her until she became

    A torn limb, shredded by the fangs of wolves.

  65. وإذا السّياسة لم تفوّضْ أمرَها

    للنار، كانت خدعةً، وتصنُّعا

    If politics does not surrender its command

    To fire, it remains but a deception and a sham.

  66. إني رأيت الكونَ يسجدُ خاشعاً

    للحق والرشاش، إن نطقا معا!

    I have seen the universe bow in reverence

    To Truth and the Machine Gun, when they speak as one!

  67. خبّر فرنسا، يا زمانُ بأننا

    هيهات في استقلالنا أن نُخدعا

    Tell France, O Time, that never again

    Shall we be deceived regarding our independence.

  68. واستفتِ يا ديغولُ شعبَك، إنه

    حكم الزمانُ، فما عسى أن تصنعا؟

    Ask your people for a verdict, O De Gaulle;

    It is Time's judgment—what can you possibly do?

  69. شعبُ الجزائر قال في استفتائه

    لا!! لن أبيح من الجزائر إصبعا

    The people of Algeria have spoken in their vote:

    "No! I shall not yield a single inch of Algeria!"

  70. واختار يومَ الاقتراع نفمبراً

    فمضى، وصمّم أن يثور، ويقرعا

    They chose November as the day of decision,

    Moving forward, resolved to revolt and strike.
