أحيّي الظرف والأدبا

أحيي الأنس والطربا

I salute etiquette and manners,

I salute wit and literature,

I salute joy and delight.

I salute companionship and mirth,

وأرقُصُ حول مأدبةٍ

تضمُّ السادة النُّجَبا

And I dance around a feast,

And I dance around a banquet

That hosts the eminent nobles.

That gathers the noble elites,

وأسقي النشء من كبدي

سُلافَ الشعر لا العنبا

And I quench the youth with my liver,

And I serve the rising generation, from my very soul,

The draft of poetry, not wine.

The choice wine of poetry, not the wine of grapes,

وأفدي للعلا بدمي

شبابًا للعلا ذُرَبا

And I sacrifice for knowledge with my blood,

And I ransom with my blood, for the sake of glory,

A youth for knowledge a prey.

A youth keen-edged for the heights,

نفوسٌ للحياة غدتْ

تقود الجحفل اللَّجِبا

Souls for life have become,

Souls that have arisen for life,

Leading the active throng.

Leading the clamorous legions,

وأرواحٌ مطهَّرةٌ

أرتْ من طهرها العجبا

And purified spirits,

And spirits purified,

That showed their purity a wonder.

That revealed wonders through their purity,

وأفئدةٌ مقدّسةٌ

سَمَتْ حريةً وإبا

And sanctified hearts,

And sacred hearts

That aspired for freedom and Fatherland.

That soared in freedom and proud defiance,

وهِمّاتٌ مكهربةٌ

تسارع للعلا خببا

And electrified ambitions,

And electrified ambitions

That race for the heights steps.

Racing swiftly toward glory,

عروق الودّ تربطها

وتعقدُ بينها نسبا

Bonds of affection connect them,

Veins of affection bind them,

And kinship ties them together.

And forge a lineage between them,

يمين الشمس ترفعها

لتعلو الشمس والشهبا

The right hand of the sun raises them,

The right hand of the sun raises them

To rise above the sun and comets.

To rise above the sun and the stars,

وداعي العلم يطلبها

لتجني التِّبْرَ والذهبا

And the caller of knowledge seeks them,

And the caller of knowledge seeks them

To reap goodness and gold.

To harvest gold dust and gold,

وصوت الجدِّ يُنْهِضُها

لتبلغَ عنده الأربا

And the voice of seriousness rouses them,

And the voice of diligence rouses them

To attain at his presence the highest seats.

To attain their goals thereby,

بني القطر الشقيق ومن

أتى بالود منتدبا

O kindred country and those,

O sons of the brotherly land, and whoever

Who came with affection commissioned.

Came as a delegate of affection,

فإنا كلنا وطنٌ،

غدا للشرق منتسبا

We are all one homeland,

For we are all one homeland,

Affiliated to the East tomorrow.

Belonging to the East.
