أكانَ الجبانُ يَرَى أنّهُ

يُدافِعُ عَنْهُ الفِرارُ الأَجَلْ

Does the coward think that fleeing

Will prolong for him his days?

فقد تُدرِكُ الحادثاتُ الجبانَ

ويسلمُ منها الشجاعُ البطلْ

Misfortune still the coward seizes

While the brave escapes its ways
