لا تَعدَموا راحَتَي مَعنٍ فَإِنَّهُما

بِالجودِ أَفتَنَتا يَحيى بِنَ مَنصورِ

Do not deprive me of my comfort, Ma'n,

For through generosity they have enchanted Yahya ibn Mansur,

لَمّا رَأَى راحَتَي مَعنٍ تَدَفَّقَتا

بِنائِلٍ مِن عَطاءٍ غَيرِ مَنزورِ

When he saw my comforts flowing,

With gifts unstinting and unmeasured,

أَلقى المُسوح الَّتي قَد كانَ يَلبَسُها

وَظَلَّ لِلشِعرِ ذا رَصفٍ وَتَحبيرُ

He threw off his outer garments

And devoted himself to poetry of fine rhetoric and adornment.
