أَلَم تَرَ أَنَّ الجودَ مِن لَدنِ آدَمٍ

تَحَدَّرَ حَتّى صارَ في راحَةِ الفَضلِ

Have you not seen that generosity flowed

From Adam down through hands of time

إِذا ما أَبو العَبّاسِ راحَت سَماؤُهُ

فَيالَكَ مِن هَطلٍ وَيالَكَ مِن وَبلِ

When Abu al-'Abbas's generosity was bestowed

Ah, the bounty! Ah, the beneficence!
