أَتَظُنُّ يا إِدريسُ أَنَّكَ مُفلِتٌ
كَيدَ الخَليفَةِ أَو يَقيكَ فِرارُ
Do you think, O Idris, that you can escape
The plots of the Caliph, or will fleeing protect you?
فَليَأتِيَنَّكَ أَو تَحُلَّ بِبَلدَةٍ
لا يَهتَدي فيها إِلَيكَ نَهارُ
He will come for you, or you will end up in a land
Where daylight cannot guide anyone to you,
مَلِكٌ كَأَنَّ المَوتَ يَتبَعُ أَمرَهُ
حَتّى يُقالَ تُطيعُهُ الأَقدارُ
A king whom death seems to follow his commands
Until it is said that even fate obeys him
