1. وَما خُلِقَت إِلّا لِبَذلٍ أَكُفُّهُم

    وَأَلسُنُهُم إِلّا لِتَحبيرِ مَنطِقِ

    I was not created except to give freely of my palms

    While their tongues were made only for idle prattle

  2. فَيَوماً يُبارونَ الرِياحَ سَماحَةً

    وَيَوماً لِبَذلِ الخاطِبِ المُتَشَدِّقِ

    Thus one day they race the winds in generosity

    While another they vie in pretentious eloquence
