تَعَلَّم إِن تَشا عِزّا
فَكُلُّ جَهالَةٍ ذِلّة
Learn, if you desire honor
For every ignorance is humiliation
فَكَم باكٍ عَلى وِزرٍ
بِعَينٍ مِنهُ مِنهلّة
So how many weep over a burden
Caused by their own blindness
وَربّتما يَزَلُّ إِذا
أَرادَ إِزالَةَ الزلّة
And perhaps he who stumbles may steady
If he desires to correct his stumbling
وَهَلأ تَشفى بِلا عِلمٍ
نُفوسٌ هُنَّ مُعتَلّة
Can souls be healed without knowledge?
When they are already afflicted
طَبيبُ المَرءِ علّتُهُ
إِذا لَم يَعرِفِ العلّة
The cure for a man is to know
The cause if he knows not the cause
