To you, my lord, belong all excellence, praise, and gratitude,
for yours are the spacious court and bounty overflowing.
May you ever remain towering upon a mountain of glory,
its flanks impregnable, which Time cannot shake.
May your realm remain guarded, and you victorious,
with conquest and victory attending your lofty station.
I have hopes set on you, and panegyrics in praise,
whose like neither verse nor prose can equal—
panegyrics following one another from a poet’s inspiration,
like the current of a sea, graced by diction and circulation.
And I have another need, whose fulfillment rests with you;
no Zayd or ʿAmr should take charge of it.
Long endure, O Imam of the Muslims, Bilʿarab,
scion of Sultan ibn Sayf; victory is yours.
Live upon the heights of an abiding, everlasting realm,
honored; and in the Hereafter, yours are triumph and reward.
