1. وحباك الإلهُ ملكاً وإنصالاَ

    وعزّاً يُطحْطِحُ الأَجْيالاَ

    God gifted you kingship and splendor

    And glory that humbles generations

  2. يا حليفَ العلى قد اختارَك اللهُ

    إماماً أزكى الأنامِ فِعَالاَ

    O ally of the Most High, God chose you

    The purest Imam of all people in deeds

  3. أنتَ أنتَ الفتَى أبو العرب الزاكى

    أبُو الخلق كلهم لَنْ تَزَالاَ

    You, you are the virtuous young man, father of the Arabs

    Father of all people, you will not cease

  4. يا ابنَ سلطان أنت كاسمك

    والوالد يعصى في ولده العذَّالاَ

    O son of the Sultan, you are like your name

    And the father is disobeyed in his punishing son

  5. أنتَ مولّى لنا ونحنُ عبيدٌ

    لكَ نَرْضى رضاكَ حالاً فحالاَ

    You are our master and we are your slaves

    We accept your approval, state after state

  6. أغرقتْنا كفَّاكَ جوداً فأنسا

    نَا نداكَ الأعمامَ والأخوالا

    Your palms have drowned us in generosity thus making us forget

    Our uncles and cousins calling us

  7. أنتَ أدرى بحالِنا إن أردْنا

    حاجةً منك ليس بندى سؤالاَ

    You know best our state, if we need

    Something from you, asking is no shame

  8. ما لحظناك لحظةً قط إلاّ

    ومحيّاكَ نُورُه بتَلاَلاَ

    We have never seen you, not even for a moment

    Except your light greeting hills and hills

  9. يشرق البشرُ في سنا وجهك الميمونِ

    حُسناً من قبل يُنْدِى المقَالاَ

    People's faces shine in your blessed youth

    A beauty greeting the words

  10. يا ابن سلطان سيفنا إنْ رأينا

    ك سَلَوْنَا وصارَ كلٌّ محَالاَ

    O son of the Sultan, our sword, if we saw

    You unsheathed, all became possible

  11. فاعلُ قدراً وأين تَعْلُو وقد خلتُ

    الثريّا لإِخْمَصيكَ نِعَالاَ

    You who ordains and where do you ascend while I have walked

    Barefoot to your shoes, my sandals

  12. من نواليك أو يُدانيك يرجُو

    منكَ يُسرّا لا يختشى إقْلاَلاَ

    Who approaches you or comes near you hopes

    From you, ease without fear of little

  13. ما تولَّى امرؤٌ ثناءك إلاّ

    صارَ بالفضلِ أحسنَ الخلقِ حالاَ

    No man has praised you unless

    He became, through your grace, best of people

  14. يا ابن مَنْ جُودُ كفِّه السحب

    وفي الحربِ يفضحُ الرئْبَالاَ

    O son of one whose palms are clouds

    And in war uncovers the creeping

  15. وَهَبَتْني القريضَ منك أيادٍ

    فعرضْتُ المديحَ فيكَ ارْتجالاَ

    The rhyming gifted me verses about you

    So I presented this praise of you extemporaneously

  16. لكَ حِلمٌ تخفُّ منهُ الرواسِي

    أنت من فاقَ في الرجالِ الرجالاَ

    You have a wisdom that makes mountains humble

    You who surpassed men among men

  17. وسَنَا غُرَّةٍ بَدَتْ تطفئ الشمسَ

    وذكرٌ يشيِّبُ الأطفالاَ

    An aura that appeared putting out the sun

    And a reputation graying infants

  18. أوْ ندىً لو فرقته بينَ أهلِ

    الأرض لم تُلْفِ فيهمُ بُخَّالا

    Or a dew, if dispersed among the people

    Of the world, no stinger would be found

  19. ما رأينا ملكا سواكَ يساوى

    بنداه الملوكَ والأقْيَالاَ

    We have not seen a king but you who equals

    His servants the kings and the tyrants

  20. كلُّهم يشكرون فضلَك إذْ تُسْدِى

    عليهم مِن جُودِكَ الأفْضَالاَ

    All thank you for your grace when you bestow

    Upon them your abundant favors

  21. كيفَ لا يشكرُ الخلائقُ سلطاناً

    عليهم أنعامُه تَتَوالَى

    How can creation not thank a Sultan

    Whose blessings upon them continue

  22. فوربيّ طرقتُ شرقاً وغرباً

    وبلوت الأنامَ آلاّ فآلاَ

    By my Lord, I roamed east and west

    And tested people, throngs after throngs

  23. لم أجدْ غيرَ مخلصٍ لكَ وُدّاً

    جَوهريّاً يسرني ما قَالا

    I did not find but a sincere lover to you

    A quintessence that delights me when he speaks

  24. قد لعمري أمسَى الكفورُ مقرّاً

    لكَ بالفضلِ مَادحاً قوّالا

    By my life, the ungrateful have surely admitted

    To your merit, praising you lavishly

  25. ما اختلفنا في ذكرِ فضلك لكن

    ما ألونَا في الدين جهداً جِدَالا

    We did not differ in mentioning your merit, but

    We did not exert much effort arguing religion

  26. هاكَ من مخلصٍ هديّاً تهادى

    في ثناء من الثيابِ اختيالا

    In praise unlike any garment's pretense

    I built a thought as if built of prose

  27. بنتُ فكرٍ كأنها بنت عشرٍ

    تستحق الإحسانَ والإقْبَالا

    Deserving favor and regard

    It has outdone the boastful and surpassed the well-watered

  28. كرمَتْ محتداً وفاقَتْ رُوَاءً

    وجلَتْ منظراً وتاهَتْ جَمَالا

    It has excelled in appearance and lost beauty

    So lend an ear to it when it speaks

  29. فأصخْ سمعاً إليها إذا مَا

    نطقت بالمديحِ فيكَ امتثالا

    In praise of you obediently

    You match it so be generous with it, it came to you

  30. أنتَ كُفْءٌ لها فاجزلْ لها الإحس

    انَ عفواً جاءتك تَبْغى النوَالا

    Seeking bounty, arriving expecting favor

    For its father before, when it was young

  31. فأبُوها من قبلُ وهو صغيرٌ

    نالَ منكَ الإعظامً والإجلالا

    Attained from you esteem and reverence

    He still resides in your proximity

  32. وهو لا زالَ في ذُرَاكَ مقيماً

    أينَما كنتَ لم يزل جوّالا

    Wherever you were, he always attended

    This is the pinnacle of praise. Let whoever wishes

  33. هذه غايةُ المديحِ فمن شاء

    فليقلْ هكذا وإلا مَلالاَ

    Say likewise or otherwise tiresome

    Live delighted for an age for your hands have built

  34. عِشْ قريرَ العيونِ دَهراً فقدْ

    أبنتْ يداكَ الأعداءَ والأموالا

    The enemies and the riches

    And remain as long as the pigeons coo

  35. وابق ما نَاحتْ الحمامُ هديلا

    وتولى متيَّمٌ اطلالا

    And the bereft turns to the ruins
