After you left, eyes abandoned sleep
And their lids grew weary of slumber
News that almost made the planets crash down
And turned the firmament into a wasteland
The earths almost crept and the
Heavens almost cracked with fear and turmoil
Souls were nearly severed from bodies
Grieving in sorrow over loss
Ships were nearly wrecked by the absence
Of him they sought, battling the waves
And people's hearts took flight, mindless,
Though once firm as mountains
Everyone wished to ransom you with wealth and children
Had someone been ransomed
On Wednesday night you left
Riding your steed into the dark night
Due to the death of the Imam, Sultan bin Saif
Who shook the settled lands
He was a sanctuary for the faith, a refuge
For the virtuous, support for the weak
A haven for the pious, wealth for the destitute
And a pillar for the people
Now he lies alone in a grave
After glory that shook the pillars
My soul yearns for that noble lord
Whose palm I continually sought
I will weep for him as long as I live
With tears that speak of life and grief
And if I weep for an age, I will not shed
A fraction of what he built and secured for me
I cannot number his overflowing virtues
Each time I ask, he provides more
O what an Imam of truth and honesty
Whose sole concern was pleasing God
Dispensing justice, spending wealth, a generous king
Who satisfied people's needs
He ruled the people with justice and grace
And through justice, led those he ruled
God granted him glory, honor,
Generosity, nobility, and succession
The sublime preoccupied him, and achieving loftiness
Banishing from him worldly joys and bliss
Awake at night, communing and beseeching
God, praying for people's righteousness
He filled horizons with kindness and care
And regions with guidance and wisdom
He led the people of the world gently and kindly
Until they became ascetics devoted to their Lord
God was pleased with him in life and death
And granted him contentment and bliss
God settled his soul in eternal bounty
Where he will never fear peril
It was Wednesday of Dhu al-Qa'dah
That the Imam, I mean Al-Jawad, passed away
And a thousand and ninety years have gone
In the count of years, as numbers are recited
Grief and gloom overwhelm me at his loss
That cuts through the heart
By God, were it not for Abu Al-Arab Al-Sami
After the Imam we would be ashes
And people were tried with immense tribulation
Evident and clear, as righteousness turned to corruption
Matters became difficult and people began
Lamenting ruin and destruction
But God blessed us
With a generous one who never breaks his promise
By God, were the King embodied
He would be its head, heart and soul
We would find no enemies among all people
None but the like of him should be opposed
Hearts accepted him, people united
In loving and befriending him
And if servants did not fear their Lord
They too would become his worshippers
God combined in His creations innate natures
That make one forget even his children
He cares not for his wealth, if we asked
He would give, double and increase
If you ask for his soul, he will give it, but
Fear God, show restraint and dread the Reckoning
So was his grandfather and father
And the noble youth resembles his ancestors
Generous, his abundant generosity
Shames the generous and outdoes the open-handed
A King who revived every virtue for us
And destroyed rancor and hatred
A Master who unified people in love for him
You see no equals oppose him
Thus he became qualified for the Imamate
And equal to it, it came to him voluntarily
O descendant of the Imam Sultan, you
Remain the Imam and continue to be called
The masses came to you submissive
And handed over leadership to you
It is forbidden for souls who aspire
To greatness to give leadership to other than you
You are the exemplar Imam in excellence and benevolence
And custom, you have flooded the lands
You truly match your name, O bestower
And I have attained my goal
You are a celebration for us, our days
Became, by seeing you, all celebrations
We thank God, now you are the Imam
For the people, and you rule the servants
Sleep soundly, free of worries and burdens
Fear no separation or distance
May God increase you in excellence and benevolence
Although you do not seek increase
And strengthen the faith and protect it through you
And debase the enemies and enviers
Live, O Caliph of God on earth, and fear not
Any turmoil or hostility
And fill days, time, world, age
And era and settlements
O Bani Yarb ibn Zuhran, you
Are the masters of the world and became its pillar
Blessed is the tribe God built for them
A towering house in the highest heaven
And singled them out among people with a kingdom
And sufficed them against enemies and rivals
May God make your rule eternal and elevate you
When you became glorious
May God destroy your enemies as He destroyed
Before them Thamud and Aad
