سَكِرنا بخمرِ الشوقِ والبُعدِ والنوَى

لحُسْنِك حتى لا نكادُ نُطيقُ

We were intoxicated by the wine of longing, separation, and determination

For your beauty until we could barely endure

فهلْ من مبلغٍ عنا إليكَ برسالةٍ

وأَنَّي نُرَجِّى والمكانُ سَحِيقُ

Is there any messenger to convey from us a message to you?

And how can we hope when the place is so distant?

ومن فارقَ الأحبابَ يوماً فإنه

بأسوأ حالٍ بعدهم لحقِيقُ

Whoever parts from loved ones one day

Will afterwards be in the worst state, truly

ففارقنا من لا يريدُ فِراقنا

وقاربنا من لا نراهُ يَشُوقُ

We parted from one who does not want our separation

And approached one we do not see, though he yearns
