أَنِفنا لَهُم أَن يُساموا اللِفاءَ

بِشَجناءَ مِن رَحِمٍ توصَلُ

We denied them to ally with the well-lined coats

Through a maiden from a womb that binds

فَإِنّي اِمرُؤٌ مِن بَني عامِرٍ

وَإِنَّكَ دارِيَةٌ ثَيتَلُ

For I am a man from the tribe of Āmir

While you are a Dar'i woman, unsteady

تَبولُ العُنوقُ عَلى أَنفِهِ

كَما بالَ ذو الوَدعَةِ الأَرغَلُ

The young camel urinates on its nose

As the slow-paced one with hanging lip urinates
