1. طَلَبنا بِالرُضاب بَني زهير

    وَبِالأَكناف أَكناف الجِبال

    We begged the Bani Zuheir at Al-Ridab

    And by the mountain passes, passes of mountains

  2. فَلَم يَزَل الرُضاب لَهُم مقاماً

    وَلم يؤنَسهم عِندَ الرِمال

    Yet Al-Ridab remained their abode

    And they were not companied at the sands

  3. فَإِن تثقَف أَسنتنا زهيراً

    يكفّ شَريدهم أخرى اللَيالي

    So if our tongues attain Zuheir

    It would suffice their wanderers for nights to come
