لَعَمْرُ أبيكُما يا ابْنَيْ لُؤَيٍّ

على زَهْوٍ لَدَيْكُمْ وانْتِخاءِ

By the life of your two fathers, O sons of Lu'ayy

You were boastful and self-important

لما حامَتْ فَوارِسُكُمْ بِبَدْرٍ

ولا صَبَرُوا بِهِ عِنْدَ اللِّقاءِ

When your horsemen gathered at Badr

And did not show patience there when meeting [us]

وَرَدْناهُ بِنُورِ اللهِ يَجْلُو

دُجَى الظَّلْماءِ عَنَّا والغطاءِ

We repelled them by the light of God that dispels

The darkness from us and the covering

رسولُ اللهِ يُقْدِمُنا بأَمْرٍ

مِنَ امْرِ اللهِ أُحْكِمَ بالقَضاءِ

The Messenger of God leads us by an order

From the order of God that was carried out decisively

فَما ظَفِرَتْ فوارِسُكُمْ بِبَدْرٍ

وما رَجَعُوا إليكُمْ بالسَّواءِ

So your horsemen were not victorious at Badr

And they did not return to you successfully

فلا تَعْجَلْ أبا أبا سُفْيانَ وارْقُبْ

جِيادَ اللهِ تطْلعُ مِنْ كَداءِ

So do not rush, O Abu Sufyan, but wait

For God's steeds that come out from watering places

بِنَصْرِ اللهِ رُوحُ القُدْسِ فيها

وميكالٌ فَيا طِيبَ الملاءِ

With God's help, the Holy Spirit is in them

And Michael - so good are the warriors
