أحِينَ بلغْتَ ما كُنَّا نُرَجِّي

وكنتَ على أنُوفِ الكاشحِيناَ

When you reach what we hoped for

And you become haughty to the subdued

أبا بكْرٍ ثَوَيْتَ رَهِينَ رَمْسٍ

يَخْبُّ بَنْعيِك المُتَعجِّلُوناَ

O Abu Bakr you became hostage to a lance

Those in haste grieve for your death
