1. بحر الفصاحة والمقال الفلسفي

    بدر الملاحة والجمال اليوسفي

    The sea of eloquence and philosophical discourse,

    The guiding star of sailing and Joseph-like beauty,

  2. رب الظراف واللطافة والبها

    أُطروفة الدهر التليد الطارفِ

    O Lord of wit, subtlety, and wisdom,

    The most refined and brilliant wit of time,

  3. يا أيها المولى الجليل القدر والـ

    ـعالي المقام وذا الحياة الاشرفِ

    O my Lord, so great in rank and stature,

    Of the highest status and most noble life,

  4. يا أحسن الخلق الرضيَّ الخُلق والـ

    ـحسن السجايا بالقضاء المنصفِ

    O best of creations, of pleasing manners and temperament,

    Of good traits and just judgment,

  5. قد كنت اجهل ما ملكت من الرضى

    ومكارم الاخلاق والقلب الصفي

    I was ignorant of the contentment you possess,

    Of your noble morals and pure heart,

  6. حتى بدا لي منكَ فعلٌ لم أرَا

    هُ قط الاَّ في لعزيز اليوسفي

    Until I saw in you a deed I had not seen

    Except in Joseph the noble.

  7. فلذاك اشكر فضلكم وجليل تلك

    م النعمةِ الحسنى التي لم تختفِ

    So for that I thank your kindness and greatness

    Of that fine favor which did not fade,

  8. بك لا برحت مواظب الصفح الذي

    عنهُ تنال الصفح يوم الموقفِ

    By you I have persisted, frequenting the pardon

    By which pardon is attained on the Day of Judgment.
