1. إنْ عزَّ من خير الأنام مَزَارُ

    فلنا بِزَوْرةِ نجله استبشار

    If visiting the tomb of the best of mankind brings glory

    Then we rejoice in visiting his son's tomb

  2. أَوَليس نور المصطفى بجبينه

    كالشّمس يُظهِرُ نُورَها الأقمارُ

    Does not the light of Mustafā shine from his forehead

    Like the sun making the moons glow

  3. فَاشْفِ الغليلَ بقربه فلطالما

    شطَّ المزارُ وعاقت الأقدارُ

    So heal your anguish by being near him, for long

    Has visiting his tomb brought wellbeing when fates rebel

  4. واحفَظْ جفونَك من سَنَاهُ فإنَّه

    ببريقه تُتَخَطَّفُ الأبصارُ

    And guard your eyelids from his brilliance, for verily it

    Dazzles sights with its flare

  5. وإذا أناملُه الِّلطافُ لَثَمْتَها

    فَحَذَارِ من غَرْقٍ فهنّ بِحَارُ

    And if his gentle fingers touch your lips

    Beware of drowning, for they are seas

  6. وافْخَرْ على كلّ الملوك بِلَثْمِهَا

    ما بعده للمستعزّ فخار

    And pride yourself over all kings for kissing them

    None after him has pride for the esteemed

  7. وانْبُذْ بفخر ابن الخطيب فإنّما

    لابن الخطيب بفخرها المعشار

    And boast through Ibn al-Khaṭīb’s pride, for pride

    Through the son of al-Khaṭīb has shares

  8. شتّان بين ابن الرسول وغَيْرِه

    أَوَ يستوي لَيْلٌ دَجا ونَهَارُ

    What a difference between the Prophet's son and others!

    Is a dark night equal to a bright day?

  9. هذا يزينُ الشّعرَ طيبُ مديحه

    حُسْناً وذاك تزينه الأشعارُ

    This adorns poetry with the scent of his praise

    Embellishing it with fine words

  10. هذا الخليفة وابنُ أَكْرَمِ مُرْسَلٍ

    وسليلُ من فَخَرَتْ به الأعصارُ

    He is the Caliph and son of the most generous Messenger

    Scion of the one centuries take pride in

  11. وخلاصة الأشراف والخلفاء مِنْ

    بيت البتول ومَنْ حواه إزارُ

    Essence of nobility and Caliphs from

    The house of the maiden and the one who wore her gown

  12. وأعَزُّ وارثِ مُلْكِ إسماعيلَ مِنْ

    بطل شذا عزماته معطار

    Most glorious heir to rule of Ismā‘īl

    The resolute hero whose weapons bear perfume

  13. وأَجَلُّ سلطانٍ وأَكْرَمُ مالك

    شَرُفت بملك يمينه الأحرار

    Greatest Sultan and most generous ruler

    Whose rule the free have been ennobled by

  14. وأحقُّ مَنْ تحت السّماء بأن يُرى

    مَلِكَ البسيطةِ والورى أَنْصَارُ

    Most deserving under the sky to be seen

    As king of the land and its people his helpers

  15. لكن إذا كلُّ القلوب تُحِبُّه

    فلغيره الأجسام وهي نِفارُ

    But if all hearts love him

    Bodies alone dislike him and keep away

  16. هذا سليمان الرّضى بنُ محمّدٍ

    مَنْ أشرقَتْ بجبينه الأنوارُ

    This is Sulaymān, the contented, son of Muḥammad

    From whose forehead lights have shone

  17. هذا الذي ردّ الخلافة غضّةً

    وسما به للمسلمين منارُ

    He who restored vigorous caliphate

    And with it established a beacon for Muslims

  18. وأعزَّ دينَ الله فهو بشكره

    في أَيْكِها تترنّمُ الأطيارُ

    He honored Allah’s religion, so birds in his plains

    Chant and trill due to his gratitude

  19. وحَمَى حماه بفصله وبنصله

    وهُوَ الذي يُحْمَى لديه منارُ

    He protected his protector with his judgment and sword

    For near him the beacon is kept lit

  20. فلسانه يومَ الجدال صوارمٌ

    وسِنانُه يوم الكريهة نارُ

    His tongue on the day of debate is sword and

    His teeth on the day of war are fire

  21. بمعارف وشهامة علويّةٍ

    من قبل أَرْهَفَ حدَّها الأخطارُ

    With ʿAlawī cognizance and magnanimity

    Before which even great dangers bow down

  22. تخشى الضّراغمُ بأسَهُ في غابِها

    وتصَاغَرُ الأبطالُ وهي كبارُ

    Wild beasts fear his might in their lairs

    As heroes shrink and they are giants

  23. ويخاف صَوْلَةَ عَدْلِه الدَّهْرُ الذي

    مهما يجرْ يوماً فَنِعْمَ الجارُ

    Time fears the justice of his rule; excellent

    Is he as days go by, the best neighbor!

  24. وهو الذي يُرْجَى لكلّ ملمّة

    ضاقت بحمل ضئيلها الأقطار

    He who is hoped for relief from every problem

    Too heavy for the horizons to bear

  25. وهو الذي يُسْعَى إليه إذا دجى

    لَيْلُ الخطوب وساءت الأفكار

    He whom we seek when darkness falls

    In nights of misfortune and confused thoughts

  26. كمجيئِنا نسعى إليه وقد سطا

    جَدْبٌ وعمّ جميعَنا إضْرَارُ

    Like our coming to him while barrenness spread

    And harm befell us all

  27. عِلماً بأنّا إنْ رأينا وجهَه

    زال العنا وتزحزح الإِعسار

    Knowing, the sight of his face removes blight

    And hardship shifts away

  28. مَوْلىً رأى الدنيا بمُقلةِ زاهدٍ

    ودرى بأنّ جمالَها غرّارُ

    A master who saw the world with an ascetic’s glance

    Knowing its beauty to be deceptive

  29. فرمى بها مُتَنَزِّهاً وكذاك مَنْ

    كانت كِرَامَ أصوله الأطهار

    So he rejected it prideless while his noble

    Ancestors were bestowed honors

  30. وتخيَّر الأخرى مهمّة عارفٍ

    لم يُرْضِها دون الجِنان قرارُ

    Choosing the next abode with a gnostic’s care

    Without which paradise was not home for him

  31. فَرِحَتْ به الأخرى كما صَلُحَتْ به

    الدّنيا فطاب لأهلها استقرارُ

    The next rejoiced in him, as through him

    The world was set aright, stability for its people

  32. عَمَّ البريَّة حِلْمُهُ وحياؤُه

    وتواترت بسخائه الأخبارُ

    Forbearance and modesty of his spread through

    The wilds, tales of his generosity passed around

  33. مع مَا لَهُ من مستلذِّ شمائل

    نمّت بطِيبِ نسيمها الأزهارُ

    As well as most delightful qualities

    From whose gentle breeze flowers blossomed

  34. إِنْ تَلْقَهُ لاَقَيْتَهُ مُتَهَلِّلاً

    وله إليك هشاشةٌ وبِدَارُ

    If you meet him, you meet a smiling face

    Radiant, sorrows dispelled from his forehead

  35. متبَسِّماً يجلو الظّلامَ جبينُه

    مستبشراً تُجْلَى به الأكدارُ

    Happy, through him distress is uncovered

    From a lineage who inherited highness and harmony

  36. مِنْ عُصْبَةٍ ورثوا العُلاَ وتناسقوا

    فيها كما انتسقت بها أسطارُ

    Rushing to noble deeds, never will you see

    From them but those whose virtues gush forth

  37. وتسابقوا في المَكْرُماتِ فلن ترى

    منهم سوى مَنْ فضلُه مدرارُ

    Righteous, glorious leaders, virtuous scholars

    Lamps by which seekers obtain insight

  38. صُلَحَاءُ أبرارٌ أماجدُ سادةٌ

    عُلَمَاءُ أخيارٌ تلت أخيارُ

    Caliphs, nobles, generous pillars

    Guided in darkness by their light

  39. خُلَفَاءُ أشرافٌ كِرَامٌ قادةٌ

    سُرُجٌ بها للمهتدي استبصارُ

    Every wise, cautious flier fears his sanctuary –

    Swords at the ready, the stalwarts’ refuge

  40. من كلّ أحزم يتّقيه حِمامه

    شاكي السّلاح له اليقين دِثارُ

    A path to piercing chests and kidneys

    While they bear the instruments of war

  41. دَرِبٍ على طعن الأباهر والكُلَى

    وعليه للحرب العوان مدارُ

    Herds, to plunder souls when they attack

    So the hopes of enemies are shortened

  42. قِرمٍ إلى نهب النّفوس إذا سطا

    فَطِوَالُ آمال العداء قصارُ

    God fortified their binding pact through them

    And God chooses best to uphold his creed

  43. شدّ الإِله بهم مَعَاقِدَ دينِهِ

    واللّه جلّ لدينه يختارُ

    Empowering them with mighty victory before which

    Hearts quake, taking cover behind screens

  44. وأعزّهم بعزيز نصرته التي

    رُعْبُ القلوب أَمَامَهَا سَتّارُ

    Have you not seen how humiliation marks unbelief before their might?

    Their swords threaten any who oppose them

  45. أَفَمَا رأيتَ الكُفْرَ ذَلَّ لعزّهم

    وسنانُه لِسِواهُمُ خطّارُ

    East yearns to be west so that familiarity

    Spreads among refugees gathered there

  46. تهوى المشارقُ أن تكون مغارباً

    ليَعُمَّها في الملتجين حِوارُ

    Hoping to gain honor from the noble one

    If there the seat of caliphate lies

  47. وتنال من عزّ الشّريف كما رَأَتْ

    إنْ كان فيها للخلافة دارُ

    Time brought its reins back to his chest, as though

    Al-Fārūq in our times holds sway

  48. ردّ الزّمان لصدره فكَأَنّما ال

    فاروقُ بين ظهورنا أَمَّارُ

    Justice is served, souls are aspirational

    Religion manifests, sciences studied

  49. العدلُ يُبْسَطُ والنّفوس سَوَامِحٌ

    والدّين يظهر والعلوم تُدَارُ

    People amid ease of life in a paradise

    Below which rivers flow

  50. والنَاس في رَغَدِ الحياة بجنّةٍ

    تجري لها من تحتها الأنهارُ

    Let them recall favors encompassing them

    God knows they are plentiful

  51. فَلْيَذْكُرُوا النِّعَمَ التي عَمَتْهُمُ

    اللّهُ يعلم أنهنّ غِزارُ

    Let us pray they continue through his permanence

    For continuity bodes well for us

  52. وَلْنَسْأَلِ اسْتِمْرَارَها ببقائِهِ

    فبقاؤه لِصَلاَحِنَا اسْتِمْرَارُ

    May God make his victory a constant

    In glory, the divine decree humbled before it

  53. اللّه يُبقِي نَصْرَهُ متأيّداً

    في عزّةٍ خضعت لها الأقدارُ

    And perpetuate the rule of heaven protecting him

    With a care built by Him as ramparts

  54. ويُديمُ أملاك السّماءِ تَحُوطُهُ

    بِعِنايَةٍ شِيدَتْ لها الأسْوَارُ

    The earth a handful held in his palms, its twin

    Disclosing to him the unseen

  55. والأرضُ قبضة راحتَيْهِ وأختها

    مِنْها لَهُ تتنزّلُ الأسرارُ

    As long as you, House of Muḥammad, remain

    A sanctuary pilgrims circle

  56. ما دُمْتُمُ يا أهْلَ بَيْتِ محمّدٍ

    حَرَماً يطوف ببيته الزُوَّارُ

    Or a chanter extols your majesty

    Adorning his litany with your mention

  57. أوْ ما تَرنّمَ مُنْشِدٌ بِجَلاَلِكُمْ

    وتَزَيَّنَتْ بِحُلاَكُمُ الأذكارُ

    Then may blessings ever be upon the Prophet and his folk

    For in praising you I’ve reached no limit

  58. ثمّ الصّلاة على النبيّ وآلِهِ

    ما ناف لي بمديحكم مِقْدَارُ
