1. May Muhammad’s hand gladden you, O bearer of this page;

    honor enough is yours in kissing the dust beneath his feet.

  2. And when you breathe the musk of his approach,

    and your joy swells as he lifts his veil,

  3. then convey peace to him, O son of the Chosen One,

    through the Seal’s son, the succor of his age.

  4. That yearning one—Ibrahim—has indeed

    been held back by gray age, together with his ailments.

  5. Therefore, in place of his coming, there stand for him

    winsome maidens, robed in beauty by his pens.

  6. He conveys a longing distilled within the heart,

    a passion no books can ever explain.

  7. And he seeks from you a favor whereby our spirits are

    rain-cloud water mingling with his wine.

  8. May your high glory endure, and may the secret of our Path remain

    the cup of pure nectar, with you as the musk that seals it.
