1. Whoever suffers affliction and seeks deliverance,

let him drive his young she-camels toward this shrine.

  2. A sacred presence embracing radiance and glory,

and a shrine that gives to you without stint.

  3. So ask whatever you wish, with sincere resolve,

and seize from it whatever you desire to seize.

  4. This is the shrine of al-ʿUryān, the master of Naṣr,

on the day his intimates gave him a morsel.

  5. Then he received the secrets from it, and revealed

to the wretched man his escape from misery through it.

  6. And he is the one to whom Ibn ʿAzzūz came crawling,

submissive, displaying his abasement before him.

  7. And remember, as long as you live, the day of Murād,

the day his choking anguish brought calamity upon him:

  8. the day in the valley of al-Zarqāʾ, when he intended wrongdoing,

and his troops ran rampant and exhausted his bullets.

  9. The bullets striking the shaykh were like water,

sent down by heaven as pure rain from the clouds.

  10. He said, 'O oppressor, in this valley of yours,

I shall show you the retribution for your insolent head.'

  11. Then he met his death by a secret thrust,

which hastened his destruction and split his polished armor.

  12. And ask the people why Yūnus turned away,

showing his escape from him through flight,

  13. when he sought to spend the night with the maidens by force,

coercing their families into what he demanded.

  14. Then war arose against him in his own lodging,

stirring up his suffering and his frantic leaping.

  15. What virtues these are in an imam—

the elect of all the saints, their purest essence!

  16. For how many a seeker of refuge he has sheltered

in his sanctuary, soothing his quivering flesh!

  17. And how many at sea he has rescued who had

been drowning in its depths and sunk into it!

  18. So preserve his bounty, O Lord, and be pleased with him,

and perpetuate his glory and honor his lineage.
