    And how often You have shown mercy, unasked, beyond counting!

  2. This darkness has settled, and the people have already fallen asleep.

    And I have spread out my hope as I stretched forth my hand.

  3. So reunite my scattered self with the beloved, for

    the time has stretched long, and separation's flame burns in my liver.

  4. Those who hoped in You before me were never disappointed; how, then, can I be seen,

    O You who overflow with generosity, not having come to drink from Your bounty?
