1. Praise to Him who bestowed abundant grace,

    And a special blessing through what He has taught.

  2. Then peace and blessings upon him

    Without whom I would have seen neither earth nor sky,

  3. And upon all his family and all the Companions,

    And whoever has sought Islam as an upright religion.

  4. This said, I have granted Salih permission to transmit,

    That man whose origins lie in al-Sham,

  5. Whatever is reliably attributed to me through transmission,

    Or what I have composed, found in prose and verse.

  6. I obliged him to hearten him, even though I

    Was no notable figure among those granting authorization.

  7. He is enjoined to be mindful of God—exalted is His majesty—

    And to offer a prayer that clears blindness from the heart.

  8. And I am al-Riyahi, son of Abd al-Qadir, the

    servant who hopes for healing from thirst.

  9. Then blessings upon the Prophet and his family,

    As long as a bird sings among the branches.

  10. And praise to the great Lord is the most fitting thing

    With which a person begins or completes an important task.
