If a fasting person’s fast is broken and he has come
If one who fasts strips naked, breaking the fast though it has come
Asking about abstaining for the remainder of his day:
He asks about abstaining on the last of his days
Then his abstinence is obligatory on a specified day,
To abstain that day is binding at a fixed time
When the breaking is deliberate; the presumed case carries no such obligation.
With the pillar, while the recommended is devoid of binding certitude
And otherwise, it is obligatory in the month of his fasting;
And in other than it, binding by month of fasting
And if he is making it up, abstinence is only recommended.
And if he makes it up, recommendation is the extent of its rule
And in every fast requiring consecutive observance, the recommendation to abstain
In every ordained, consecutive is its recommendation
Is recognized if his fast is broken at the outset of his fasting.
He sees if the fast-breaking exposed him at the start of his fast
And in a fast not requiring consecutive observance, its ruling is
And in other than ordained, consecutive is its rule
A matter of choice, as with fasting on Eid—so grasp its meaning.
Optional as fasting the Eid, so gain understanding of it
